If you could spend a few bucks more, I can highly recommend the Music Hall 7.1 turntable.

One big advantage it has is the fact that the motor is completely separate and isolated from the rest of the structure.

It also has an excellent arm suspension.

I also strongly urge you to get a turntable that has a dust cover integral to it. This is no small matter.

A turntable MUST be covered to protect it from dust getting into sensitive delicate mechanisms.

One CAN resort to a cloth cover, which will need to be laundered often, but a plastic cover is better.

I have had the Music Hall mentioned and had speed inconsistency issues, Run do not walk from this brand. The Pro-Ject 5.1SE with Sumiko Blue Point #2 cartridge at $999 is the best grand table/cartridge currently available. I have one in my theater system and it sounds close to my VPI Classic/1Dynevector package at a 1/3 the cost. Yes if you want a dustcover you have to purchase it. But ANY audiophile worth his weight in spit will tell your to remove it while listening

I think you should explain in detail exactly what your problem was and why you could not resolve it before you take cheap shots and trash a respected brand. Without backing it up thoroughly, your cheap shot is only so much worthless hot air!

Audio Advisor and Music Direct have sold many thousands of Music Hall turntables over many years, and if there were persistent problems they would drop them. There is no doubt about that.

You will have zero credibility on this website if you trash a brand that is well-respected and has a good track record without giving proper justification.

Fair enough. I had the Music Hall 7.1 for 9 months. Three of those were spent going back & forth to the dealer for repair. The table would work perfect then the platter would slow down and muffle the sound. They replaced the motor twice under warranty.The third time I had this issue I bought a Pro-Ject table for this particular system. Maybe I got a bad one if so it is unusual to have two more failures. So I will restate, I had 3 failures in a 9 month period with a Music Hall Turntable. Many here have had no issues. I had three. Three strikes your out with me.Buy whatever brand makes you happy. The Music Hall turntable was not up to my standards of reliability
