All of the input jacks and output jacks are all simply tied together physically by a direct connection between them.

When you plug in a 3.5mm plug into your speakers, the signal is also there on the RCA jacks. It can be used to connect the signal to a subwoofer (which is exactly what I am doing).

You can't connect two signals to the speaker input/output jacks at once, as they will short each other out.

What you need is a switch box to allow you to switch between the phono and computer.

The Cables to Go #28750 switch box is what I recommend; Amazon has it for less than $20.

You can connect up to four audio sources to it and switch between them by just pushing a button and the output of the switch box will connect to your speakers (just ignore the video jacks which will not be used).

You may need some cables with 3.5mm plugs on one end and RCA on the other (see Monoprice #5597 or 5598 or 5599)
