What is your budget?

What are you using to drive them?

The Pioneer's are a V good value, IMHO.

My Budget is around the cost of those speakers, approx. $120-150.

I don't know too much about drivers, but I've been using an old pair of bose speakers, and they've been working fine. The internal speakers on my computer (which is a Toshiba Satellite s55-a5295) are IDT high-def audio CODEC, and according to my device manager, "no driver files are required or have been loaded for this device".

So that is about as much as I know on the subject. I assumed that I would be able to plug the speakers in and they would sound.

I'm leaning towards the Pioneers.

Thanks

Luc

Hi, Luc.

Are you driving these speakers directly from the sound card on your computer?

If you get speakers like the Poineer's, you will need an amplifier.

The sound card on your computer does not generate enough current to properly drive a standard set of bookshelf speakers.

You might be getting away with it using the Bose, they are fairly efficient (do not require a lot of current) but anything else will be woefully under powered. And nothing will damage a speaker faster than trying to drive it with too little current. Let alone the fact that you will never be getting anywhere near the performance or sound quality they are capable of.

I use this as a system at work running off of a PC  LINK

The little T-amp works fine for an office system.

Otherwise, you may want to consider speakers with built-in amps.

These are well regarded by many as a V good value  LINK

Thanks a lot Bill. I knew it would be a good idea to crowd source some more knowledgeable folks before I bought them. You saved me a headache.
