I like the Bose styling, but I feel their products often lack substance, and have mediocre sound. Denon on the other hand tend to make good sounding products in my experience, and are priced more competitvely, but sometimes lack a bit of visual style. I've seen and heard the Denon DHT T100 sound box and it really does deliver impressive sonics, and the novel TV stand approach is fairly unique - overall a good product 

I think both units are way overpriced for the very limited sound quality you will get with them. The Bose is especially poor.

If it were me, I would get a pair of Audioengine or PSB powered speakers, for half the price, and connect them to the TV.

The sound quality will be about 300% better.

If the TV in question does not have analog outputs, as many do not, you can get a small digital to analog converter module for under $40. Amazon has several available.

I agree with commsysman. Powered speakers from Audio Engine will certainly sound better than the offerings from Denon and Bose. 

I have the bose solo. My parents just bought the denon.

I really love the bose solo. If you consider its purpose its really good, but not very cheap indeed. The soundquality imo is very impressive for the size of the box. But only if your set up is correct. Its really important to know if your TV passes the sound from your Bluray player or setup box, digital sound, directly to the bose solo or not. I have a panasonic etw60 and with an toslink cable its digital sound output is just stereo and not very good. So i changed the optical cabel to the bluray player and now the sound is way better. Clear and the base is good for my needs - i have very close neighbours. What im really impressed by is the surround sound. You cant compare it to a 5.1 system of course but for a system of this size its very good. Again, just for me and only if you sit in the sweet spot - thats very important! And you shouldn't place it in a room bigger than 20 squaremeters. Its just not powerful enough for large rooms.

I know that many people dislike Bose and say that there products are crap and not real speakers ect. I cant agree. I like the sound and thats most important. For me their products sound really good. So does the Bose Solo TV. Thats it. I dont care if the sound is artificially processed. It sounds good and thats it for me.

If i were you i'd try both of them in a shop and compare it. I can recommend the Boso Solo but you should try both if you can.
