for that size room, with an emphasis on durability, power, and volume, you might want to look past home-type components, and look at "pro" type sound reinforcment systems.  They are built for durability and hard use.  Start with Guitar Center stores, or Sweetwater.com, and look for big ol' JBL's or speakers like that.

You need to get some self-powered JBL pro sound systems.

They have high-power amps built into the speaker cabinets and are designed for very high sound levels and tons of bass. The amps are matched to the speakers and designed for 100% reliability and can be taken to outside venues also, because they are designed for portablity.

The JBL PRX 715 would be perfect. It has a 15-inch woofer and a 1500 watt power amp.

Sweetwater has it for only $950 each, which is 40% below list price.

With a pair of those and a mixer you can get for $200 or so, you will have a system that will rock the block or fill up even an auditorium with good sound.

That is a much much better solution than what you had in mind before.

The Yamaha MG102c would work fine,

It has line inputs and MIC inputs which can be configured for either stereo pairs or

individual channels.

Sweetwater sells it for $100.

They have many many other mixers for under $200.

You can call them and tell them what you are doing and they will recommend.
