Audio-Technica AT-OC9/III for $500 from LP Gear will give you all the guts and dimensionality you can bear. Otherwise, the Dynavector 10x5 would be significantly better than the Sumiko.
Thanks jackfish. Wish one could audition cartridges but that's essentially impossible. One must depend on reviews and recommendations and I appreciate yours. I have a phono stage (Pro-Ject Phono Box S) which is adequate and can handle low output mc's like the AT. But the Dynavector output would give me a lower noise floor I reckon
I have a Dyna 10x5 and a Denon DL301 mk2 and the Denon wins hands down. The Dyna is like Art Dudley says; fun and chunky. The Denon displays more detail, and is a great all rounder. Great bass, more "there" quality, if you will.
Cheers, Doug
will be Soundsmith Ottelo
The Clearaudio Performer V2 Ebony is $400. I recommend that.
I too I have both a denon 301 mk2 and a dynavector 10x5 . I also prefer the Denon. I recently picked up the Denon as a b stock for $258.00. Great catridge for the price. I just searched and it still shows b stock available at the same price.
