Whatever you get should probably have high sensitivity as the Marantz 2216 only outputs 16 watts per channel. Atoms at 89dB/1w/1m are at the lower edge but should be passible with your stated listening requirements. I don't know if the Audio-Technica AT-LP120-USB is capable of "making vinyl sound good."

Yes, the sensitivity IS the key to getting a pair of speakers that will work with that low-powered amplifier.

I suggest the Klipsch Synergy B-20 speakers, which have a sensitivity that is well above average at 93 db per watt. Those should work well. Amazon is selling them for around $280 per pair.

Hi All,

New to the Stereophile world. I've always been fascinated with vinyl and over the last few years I have been collecting some of my favorite records and some stereo equipment. So far I have an Audio-technica AT-LP120-USB and a refurbished 1977 Marantz 2216. I'm not sure what to do about speakers. I've done some research and I've been eyeing a used pair of Paradigm Atoms. I live in an apartment so I'm not looking for anything super loud, just something that will jive with the rest of my gear and make vinyl sound good. Any suggestions?
