Have you auditioned any of the speakers you're considering?
Have an auditioned with MA RX1 before, with a REL T5 and NAD T757 receiver. Not the RX2 and Dynaudio X12 yet.
Thank you :)
the Musical Fidelity M3i should provide plenty of power for the Dynaudio Excite X12s. I'd listen to the Dynaudio X12s, you might just stop right there.
hi jack,
Thanks for your tips :) really appreciate.
Another thing that i'm worry was i'm not sure the components on my list will have a good synergy or not. Besides, i don't have a chance to listen the x12 with a m3i as i couldn't find any place to have both product in one single retail store. :)
Cheers.
The MF M3i amlifier is excellent. I have had one for a couple of years.
The Dynaudio X12 speakers are excellent, but the bass is really quite limited.
The 8-inch driver of the MA RX-2 gives very good bass, and that would make it my choice unless you plan to add a subwoofer. You can also get it in 6 different gloss or wood finishes, which is a nice option.
That DAC is very good.
For speaker stands, I recommend getting one-piece rigid welded metal stands; preferably with the ability to fill the vertical column with lead or steel bird shot for mass.
If you can make a good drawing and know what you want, you might consider going to a local welding or metal shop and have them custom-made.
Two flat metal plates with a 4-inch diameter metal tube welded between them makes quite a good stand.
hi commsysman,
Thank you for your precious feedback, i'm really appreciate that :) btw, are the the same person from avsforum.com? cause i think i've seen your name before lol. Really glad to hear from you again :) i was trying to seek for different feedback and advices with my shortlist see if its a good synergy (a term that i learn not too long ago) or not.
For the stands i guess i'll look for one which has already made as i'm not good with the measurement and other details on how it should be drawn lol. Might look at the Partington Super Dreadnaughts or the Atacama :)
Good to see you again. And wish you all happy new year :)
Yes; same fool, different website...lol. Thank you very much for your kind words.
I come over here where it's more civilized, sometimes, when I get tired of the cretins that lurk over there with flamethrowers and clubs to ambush anyone they disagree with.
Atlantis used to make nice stands, but I can't find them any more.
Sanus has some good ones; they make many different ones, both wood and steel.
Really good ones are not cheap, and surprisingly hard to find. Some of the best are sold by speaker companies for their own line.
If you can find a picture of what you want and take it to a steel fabrication shop, they might be able to work from that and the height you want. Just make sure they undestand that it must be pefectly vertical and square.
You might also post a request here that the Stereophle staff members give you some good stand recommendations.
Hi commsysman,
lol, i think i get what you mean. i've seen a thread war between monitor audio and dyn in that forum as well lol.
Thanks for the stands introduction i will check that out.
I was trying to get an audition with the Dyn x12 with the m3i and m1dac couple days ago unfortunately the local store that i visited does not have any stocks on the floor. So i had a demo with the Dyn focus 160 and DM 2/6 instead with the m3i and m1dac. The focus 160 sound amazingly smooth, full and details. For certain type of musics the bass might sounds a bit low but i think that won't be an issue for most of the types of musics that i listen to. As for the DM2/6 it was a great set of speakers as well but compare with the focus 160 it was like day and night.
By comparing the DM2/6 with the MA RX1 that i've listened before. I reckon the RX1 does brought a lot of excitement when it first play. But overall, i reckon the DM2/6 will brings more comfort to me and i found that the RX1 is a bit more bright and will fatigue for hours of listen. By saying that i do not mean RX1 was bad, it just my personal perferences of listen. Both are good and quality speakers. Besides, my judgement could be inaccurate as the source and settings that i listen on RX1 and DM2/6 are differences.
I'll try get another chance to have a listen on both x12 and MA RX2 with the same amps and DAC in the same time at some other time.
Thank you
