amplifier has a problem with?
I also see that the Luxman does not meet the recommended power minimum stated for the PMC speakers. At 8 ohms, the Luxman is rated at 25 wpc while the PMC speakers are supposed to be getting 40 - 200 watts. Does anyone think that underpowering a speaker would cause the experience I am having with the setup?
You need speakers with higher sensitivity to use with that amp, or an amp with the power to control the speakers properly.
PMC are great (but then I've only heard one pair, so that's not definitive!), and the Luxman amps I've heard are great, but I don't think they are going to work together. Those speaks need more juice. Maybe a souped up SE-40 (it's in the trannies, not the output watts) or ARC or something solid state.
Unfortunately, some speakers are just tube-lexic.
