Interesting, I never heard of Dynaco before. Do you think it will integrate well with my set up?

Often reconditioned ones show up on eBay or AudiogoN. Are you looking to replace the Yamaha? What are your sources? Turntable? CD Player? Computer or Music Server? The DAC of the Yamaha shouldn't come into play when in Pure Direct mode.

Hi Jackfish,

Sorry for the confusion. Currently the yamaha is my preamp and my sources are  dvd - computer-dvr. I was wondering if I could use the pre-outs  on the yamaha to connect maybe a vintage secound pre-amp for improved 2-channel listening?

I see a Audio Research SP-9 preamp on E-Bay for $950; that would be a good idea.

As for pandora, we are talking about low-quality audio files; much lower resolution and quality than wav. or CD. They aren't going to sound better than they are.

the Yamaha is going to get you much. You would need a unit with HT Bypass otherwise your signal is going through two preamps.

If you want to "warm up" the sound why not put a tube buffer between the Yamaha and UPA-2?
