amp controls the crossover with the line level and LFE inputs. Hence, to get the subwoofer's crossover "out of the way" set it at the highest frequency setting possible which is 150 Hz. Then use your AVR to set the crossover for its subwoofer pre-out output. Usually setting all speakers to SMALL and the "speaker x-over" to 80 Hz works. Connect the AVR subwoofer pre-out to the subwoofer's LFE input. Good Luck!
My receiver won't let me change the crossover of the sub, when i go in to speaker x-over all it says is left/right, center, and surround.
You will have to set the sub crossover for the desired low pass frequency.

With proper bass management, the AVR 147 divides the source signal at a crossover point. All information above the crossover point is played through the satellite speaker (front left/right, center or surround left/right), and all information below the crossover point is played through the subwoofer.
If in the SPEAKER SIZE menu, the speaker size for all the speakers are set to SMALL, the subwoofer setting will be SUB, (leave BASS MGR at GLOBAL) and all low frequency information will be sent to the subwoofer based on the LFE setting in the "SPEAKER X-OVER" menu.
Hence, if you set Left/Right, Center and Surround all to SMALL, and Subwoofer to SUB in the SPEAKER SIZE menu, then set Left/Right, Center and Surround to 80 Hz and LFE to Left/Right in the SPEAKER X-OVER menu, connect the AVR 147 subwoofer pre-out to the LFE input on the Cerwin Vega CMX 12s subwoofer, and set the crossover dial on the Cerwin Vega CMX 12s subwoofer to 150 Hz, the high pass filter (based on the filter slope) in the AVR will send frequencies above 80 Hz to all your Paradigm loudspeakers and the low pass filter (based on the filter slope) in the AVR will send frequencies below 80 Hz to your subwoofer.
Okay I've got a better understanding now thank you, but I have one more question unless it leads to more questions, If I set my speakers to 80hz my sub will play anything under that but what if I set my fronts different from my surrounds what will happen to the sub ?
in the SPEAKER X-OVER menu the subwoofer will be sent the frequencies below what was selected for Left/ Right in the same menu. However, the Paradigm Mini Monitor reaches down to 75 Hz -2 dB and its 70 Hz -2 dB for the Paradigm CC-350. 80 Hz would be a good setting for those speakers. The Paradigm Titans don't dig much deeper (65 Hz -2 dB), so 80 Hz for all the loudspeakers should work well. Low frequencies below about 100 Hz usually cannot be localized, so your subwoofer should not be obtrusive.
I have all my speakers set to small and 80 hz, I found that using a y adapter and setting the frequency myself sounds better, more refined bass response. I mainly use my system for 80 percent music on 5 channel stereo mode. But id like to thank you allot you've helped me on a few different topics but i have another question not related to this I'll make another topic, thanks again.
Turns out I still have some more questions.
I was wondering when using lfe you turn the crossover on the sub all the way up well I have another dial and it says volume (is volume the same as gain ?) What do I do with that one will it cause phasing or anything like that if i have it set ?
