I know Mana has bit the dust, I think Sound Organization is still around or maybe Chicago Steel (not the hockey team) used to make stands I think.  My personal stand is a steel frame with lightweight veneered particle board shelves.  I don't remember the make, maybe Sound Org.  These have always been my favorite, whether Billy Bags, Sound Organization, Sanus, etc..  Definately spending more than BB seems a bit silly to me.  They are all very good at what they do.  I'd not spend more than 400-500 bucks on a rack.  I think more than that you are only buying bragging rights.

Look at Sanus Systems.  Just because they are sold in the big box stores doesn't mean they are bad.. ;-)

I recently became aware of Quadraspire when checking my favorite hifi dealer's rack selection. I purchased a five shelf Q4evo set. The price was per shelf, and you specify the column height for each shelf (from 4 - 12 inches), and the wood finish. They are assembled similiar to a Salamander rack, but with solid wood shelves, and without fully theaded rods, nuts, and washers, so it looks nicer than Salamander's Archetype in my opinion. Cost was almost double the Salamander, but a fraction of the Box Furniture's price.

I had somewhat the same problem and simply bought an oak equipment unit that is 43" tall and 24" wide. My turntable is on the top, and my Audio Research PH-5 phono preamp (19"wide) fits on one of the shelves, with LPs on the bottom shelf, and a CD player etc on the other shelves (5 shelves plus the top).

It is strong, functional, and nice-looking; real oak veneer. It is also on casters, which makes it easy to move if I want to get it out from the wall to juggle cables or move equipment. I think I paid about $350, and the quality is very good.

Mine is the WOOD TECHNOLOGY AR-43. They also make a 53" tall and a 28" tall unit . The manufacturer says it is rated for 300 pounds. You can also get it in a dark (ebony or expresso) finish if you don't care for the natural oak.

The price on many of those audio racks is insane; thousands of dollars for a unit that costs less than $200 to manufacture.

I would suggest checking with someone that makes furniture or cabinetry.  I had a guy that made the all the cabinets in my house make a rack for me.  Very similar in size to the one you like. My rack cost me between $650 and $700 not including spiked feet which were an additional $120.  You don't need them though in my opinion.  Very beautiful, solid and hand crafted rack.  Let me know and I can send you a pic.
