So amazingly expensive

i would love to hear a set of these set up correctly.  the other panel speakers i have hear leave me flat (pun intended).  i enjoy the speed an resolution, but the instruments and voices seem more etherial than solid.  my experience includes martin logan clx and hybrids, maggies, sound labs and acoustats.  if these can add that elusive element, they must be excellent.  as for the price, as mikey's mom says: "you pay, you get".

Having owned the original Quads for quite a few years, I observed that removal of the heavy mesh grill makes a considerable difference in terms of dynamics, neutrality and bass response.  Removing the Mylar dust cover improves things further.  I also mounted the Quads' electronics modules outboard the speakers and used high quality power cords as well as the Arcici stands.

In the first page of the review, it is written that the Quad ESL-63 could reproduce a 300 Hz square wave. This is an important accomplishment. Which other speakers can also do square waves justice?
