Eric, Rogue, KT120

Hey Eric,

i have the KT120 tubes in my Rogue Audio Cronos Magnum (earlier post).  The KT120 tubes really did the trick as well with the exact same effects you described in your article.   I called the guys at Rogue to get the KT120s  to replace the KT90 tubes that I had been listening to for almost a year.  They mentioned to me that they might start offering it with KT120s as the standard tube in the Magnum.  As of when I talked to them, every single person that tried the KT120 preferred it over the KT90s.  The Cronos Magnum with the KT120s offers a whole lot of music for the buck.

Excellent review!

I really enjoyed Erick's review of the Atlas.  His language was exact and purposeful.  I see the value in this amp, and that is the characteristic I look for most in a component.   His comparisons were valid and insightful as well.  The last line was killer, too!

KT120

I have been thinking about replacing the KT90s with 120 on my Cronos Magnum too, did u have to take the top plate off...any way to keep the top plate and still have 120s?

The KT120 has a larger diameter tha the EL34, approximatekly 2". If the holes in your amp's top plate are too small, you should contact Rogue to see a replacement top plate is available and also to check that your amp can provide the necessary bias current.

New plate is needed

Yes, you need a replacement top.  Contact Rogue.  I received one from the first batch the had produced.  It costs me $150.

The holes are in the same spot, but bigger.  Thay also sold me the KT120 tubes as well.

Sorry for the late response.
