Saxophonist David Sanchez, vibraphonist Stefon Harris, and trumpeter Christian Scott travel to Havana, Cuba and record a project with pianists Rember Duharte and Harold Lopez-Nussa and their quartets.
It took a year of negotiating with representatives of the Cuban music industry, the U.S. State Department and the Cuban government to get the live performances and recordings to occur.
Good stuff

I'm currently hooked on the offerings by Omer Avital....and the soul/blues playing of trumpeter Avashai Cohen & saxophonist Joel Frahm are top notch. Checkout "Free Forever" or "Live at Smalls." Both are excellent - all original compositions by Omer Avital...plus you get the exceptional piano work of Jason Linder.
We heard a local Jazz band at Black Knights last night called The Pits, wallowed in their sound all evening. Our table was right next to the stage, forgot how loud live music can be, the horns must have hit 100db.

Don't sit next to stage
Just recently saw Roy Hargrove Quintet At Catalina Bar and Grill.
Sat one table row off of stage. Small intimate club with sound reinforcement at a enjoyable 80-85db I would guess.
