Does Audiogon plan on refunding or prorating people’s ads for the time that the website is down, and no one can access anything to either buy or sell? I would be rather miffed if I were selling something right now and I was losing time and exposure.

Please see the comments about and visit http://support.audiogon.com if you still need assistance.

Sorry, but I think the new site is a disaster. Viewing the new site reminds me of the old adage "If it ain't broke don't fix it". The old site, while very basic, was also very functional. It may not have been attractive, but it was compact, quick, and easy to navigate, all desirable qualities which the new site is lacking. Frankly the new site looks very amateurish and seems poorly designed. My advice to the movers and shakers at Audiogon is to cut your losses. Dump the new site and restore the old Audiogon.

This is terrible, just terrible. I have already spoken to industry insiders, reviewers, and audio friends all of who are AudiogoN members, and not ONE agrees what you did was a step forward in inproving the sight. Please go back to the old look and features. As my very simple mid-western father once said, "If is ain't broke, then don't fix it." Wise man my father. You should listen to him. Again, I implore you to reconsider all of these changes.

Ok...so I am the only person posting on this blog?! There are very lengthy discussions on all the other audio web forums, surprised nothing here! One of the many issues I have, I do not like what you guys have done so far, is how items are organized. You listed items by category before and I do not see this in your new format. It now would take 4 or 5 clicks to do what was done with one before...that'd be backwards. If I search Audio Research, before I would see multichannel amps, then amps, then preamps etc. Now it is just a long list that is pretty darn confusing. You would also see categories in the New Today section which was nice. Will there be a New 2 Days again? Again, a very nice way to do an efficient check on whats added recently. These are just a few from the couple minutes I was able to review what you had launched so far.

BOOOOOO - The site design is horrible. The ads everywhere remind me of a cheap, canned website design offered by mediafire in the late 90s. Can't find anything, can't see anything, no visibility, pricing / sale logistics not in one spot is ridiculous. I am a long-time member and I barely feel like the site is credible with this silly web design...I can't imagine what someone new to the site will think--I wouldn't take it serious. I predict a dramatic loss of site traffic, sales, members jumping ship, etc. due to this horrific set of changes. I wonder if the revenue you bring in with the stupid ads everywhere will be enough to make up for these well-deserved losses.

I see no way to access the actual feedback *comments* left for sellers/buyers. All I see is % of positive feedback. This is insufficient. For example: how would anyone know if the packing sucked, or if the condition listed was bs, or a bid was not honored, or.......any details at all? I hope you will show me that in fact there still is access actual written feedback left by buyers/sellers, or fix this omission. Without such feedback info I've bought my last item on A'gon. Jazzer

It's ugly and cheesy. Ads for "Date Asian"? Really??? The old format was much more attractive and easy to scan and view. Mixing software in with hardware on the current (New Today) listings is a disaster. Are the Bluebook listings going to be brought up to date? It's a rip-off to charge for them when they are often a year out of date.

The new today link is useless. It give you a complete listing of all active classified/auctions/music. When I click on new today, all I want is a list of new classified adds that were added in the last 24 hours. The new forum posting are still missing in action. I'm sorry, but please explain to me what is better about the new format? In my opinion, it's an epic fail. I think that it's time for me to move on; the site is now useless and confusing. About the only thing you got right was picture now popping over the listing instead of opening a new tab.

I don't like the new look at all. I hope this isn't permanent. Have been a user for ten years. I saw photos of young girls to meet. Girls are great, but this is a classy site I thought. Face book, Why? I think this is a wrong move. Most of all, it is difficult to read the new color combo. Why ruin something that made you you so successful. Steve.

Also, one other thing that slows me down when I'm listing records for sale is the "size box". I have to type in three times 12" 12" 12". People already know the size of an album; if they don't know then let them ask the seller. '

I have to agree with the comments above; I think the old was better. You can see by the above members comments that most buyers are only interested in the new listings rather than the old. Instead of 30 day listings make it 15 days that will thin out a lot of the old listings that no one looks at anyway. P.S. You must have hired some college grads to help with your updates cause I see words that I have no idea what they mean. Example: Gravatar

This particular blog/article "Site Launch Begins Today, January 5th" has hundreds of additional comments that are not being posted by the moderators. I commented twice, when there were no comments posted at all, and neither of my comments have been posted. My comments where not derogatory in nature but, rather, balanced and courteous. Another way to tell is to hover over a comment's date and read the comment number in your browser's status bar. Also, note the huge gaps between some comments. I have alerted the moderator to this fact. This simply tells me that the moderator/staff simply can't keep up with the onslaught of remarks, most of which, I suspect, are a rather depressing read from Audiogon's point of view.

You should think about going back to your old plat form. The new plat form is so troublesome. Right now I am holding back on my listing because of the trouble with your new web site design.

The Time Left in a Classified ad is the LAST thing I care about in a listing! Bring back the listing of component type: amp, preamp, Digital, speaker, etc. Many companies have a model type, like Cambridge's "Azur" However, they have called their amp, preamp and CD player all by that model name and even number. So if I see "Azur 840" I have to search through EVERY ad to find out which one is the CD or preamp, whatever.

Dear Audiogon, The new site looks terrible. Very bland and utility looking. The previous home page is more classy looking and more user friendly and easier to navigate. You should take a poll and have the member's vote and I'm sure they would all prefer the previous look. Audiozen

I have been "audiogoner" for more than 12 years and the thing that I liked was that I knew "where was what", this new look is so cheap looking. The strength of your site was been behind the front end and you should not allow every amateur idiot programmer practice his entry level HTML skills on your site. That is your business, your living, how can you let that happen. You should stream line what you already have, make it faster add maybe detail or two, add some new features after long and detailed testing. I bet the people behind this amateurish GUI do not have clue about high-end hi-fi and also about making high quality sites. How can you put Any Price menu, are you Walmart mini market, do not be gredy and you will be rich and stable in the long run. Keep the old (the one that you already had) look and feel and add the new strength in the background. Tom

I see that you have now added "Classified" and "Auction" check off boxes to the "New Today" page. So, now when I click on "new today" I then have to remove the check from "auctions" to filter them out. Now, I have to go up and drop down the dialog for "items per page" and select "200". Before, all I had to do was click on "new today" and I got a large list of classifieds with the auctions separated out and the new Forum posts at the end. Now when I click on "new today" have have to take two additional steps, and two page refreshes, just to get a listing of classifieds. In addition, I now have to go to the "community" and "Forums" section and then click on "recent discourse - 24 hours" just to get the recent forum posts. Before, I had one click, now I have 6 clicks. I thought the whole idea was to make the site more intuitive and easier to use. I know I'm being vocal about this, but I think that the new site is really a step backwards. I'm finding the site confusing and hard to use. However, I do like that the pictures on listings now pop over and sellers other items are listed on the right margin. Also, the new Dialog Bar at the top is an improvement. Thanks,

I like the old format of having one long page displayed for all new items including music and forum topics. Having to reload page after page is a drag. At one point I entered 200 items per page. When I went to the second page I had to re-enter 200 items per page once again.

Folks. Long-time member. You took a perfectly fine site and have made it completely absurd. Worst redesign I've ever seen! What possessed you guys?! What have you done?! For example, when I used to take a quick glance at "New Today", I could scroll down all the listings without having to hit "Next" several times for new pages as you now have it. I can't stand that! Return to us the Audiogon we knew and loved! John Meyers jdmeyers77

On a scale from 1 to 10, the new site design is a big fat ZERO. Good-bye, Audiogon!

Please see the comments about and visit http://support.audiogon.com if you still need assistance.

I have yet to see Audiogon acknowledge that most users are deeply DISSATISFIED with the new site. I have yet to see Audiogon actually respond to the many complaints, instead of just saying "Please read our FAQ." I have no interest in seeing Asian dating ads while I'm looking for NOS tubes. I have no interest in a site whose search functionality just went from "Excellent" to "Broken." And Audiogon doesn't seem to care what its users think. Boooo! Hiss!

search still is a bit goofy e.g. i look for PS Audio and i get Jolida, Creek, Wyred, etc. when I really only want to see PS Audio brand. I too prefer to see everything on one one page in a search with the category shown (the old way). To expound on the comment "we are customers, not beta testers", most of us are paying customers and getting significantly reduced functionality. Give us the old site and allow the option for those that want to test the new site and functionality for you in parallel like other services do. Your surcharges are not cheap (not unreasonable either) so you can do this right. These issues have got to be limiting your revenue.

Site still really stinks. WIth the above mentioned comments now you are making excuses for how aweful the site really is, now you are beginning to lose your professionalism and credibility. Again, since you sift through negative comments I am sure this will not get posted. I used to visit AudiogoN two the four times a day looking for deal--spending about three hours a day "AudiogoN surfing." Now that it is so hard to navigate with poor visual support, I no longer want to surf the site at all. Add to that my hard earned ($ costly too) feedback is inaccurate where I have lost 2/3s of it. I can't track how many hits or views my ads are getting so I don't know if there is any traffic. And, I have gotten any email regarding my ads in over a week. I am affraid you may have ruined this site permanently. One thing that IS for sure, I will not list any new gear until you get all of the bugs out and the site is more user friendly like it was in the past. Someone totally screwed the pooch on this one! What a mess! Again, I am heartbroken I soooooooooo loved AudiogoN!

Where do you find the listings by zip code???

Jim, tell the people at Audiogon to stop the e-mails about the update until everything is done and no one is having any problems. I've seen about 15 Update e-mails and they all say about the same thing ("we will be up and running tomorrow"); but tomorrow never seems come. I don't know how many times they said I could get on but couldn't. I ended up re-registering with a new User Name, Password and e-mail address.

The search is terrible!! I searched on Audio Research, and pre-amps, tube amps , solid state amps, etc. were all jumbled together, with no way to tell what each piece was, much less find the one I wanted. Then there were a bunch of non Audio Research listings, that had nothing to do with what I was lookin gfor. The old version was far superior. Is this the way it was intended to work?

I like the new look overall. I wish the page format for the search results had been kept, though. I liked it better when search results were returned sorted by catagory. For example, a search on > "Parasound" would have returned results sorted by "amplifier, multi", "amplifier, solid", "CD player", etc. It was also nice that only products that are made by that company were returned, not ads that include the manufacturer in a description.

Search by zip code radius would be great but prolly slow down the site. Search by 2 digit zip code is good enough and accurate to within about 15/20 miles. Need any better you can let google maps figure it out

I would first like to say that I have been a Audiogon user since 1999. I always go to Audiogon first when looking to change or upgrade my stereo. I have liked tthis site because it was easy to use, was being the key word. You shouldn't try to fix something that isn't broken. Perhaps it is your current Beta mode, but I am finding all sorts of things that are worse on this site than what was offered before. Why can't I click on a Zip code to see where this shipping will come from? Why can't I click on the feedback number to read feedback right from the ad? Why aren't the ads automatically posted new to old (adding the ability to change posting parameterrsis nice though)? Maybe I am just too set in my ways, but sometimes change isn't always for the better. Thanks for letting me vent. Dave

Hello All, I have been reviewing the new site and would like to offer some feedback from a longtime user. I understand and respect your desire to move forward but think the new site has made things a bit more difficult, added features that are not relevant at all and removed some very relevant features. 1-The way you have lists organized do not make any sense to me. Before, search results for a brand listed by component type which is key for an audiophile looking through the marketplace. Now, in order to do that you would need to execute several searches and you would have to move back and forth between those search results for reference. Much of what I see structures the site like an auction site...but it is not...it's a classified site. Thins like "time remaining" are auction related and have little to do with classifieds. For me, it's about the gear and I think that is true for most of your users. 2-This is somewhat related but when I pull up new today, you have a column on the right that shows "type" and has the blue classified oval....We know it's an ad! What we do not know, and we need to know, is what type of gear it is. ...ie amplifier, preamp, etc 3-This may be coming but on and ad page, you cannot click on the username and view feedback etc. As a buyer or seller, I want to evaluate my trading partners history. Prior to the change you could do this in a quick and efficient manner. I do not see a method now. 4-On an ad page, you now show 3 "other items form the seller" vs before there were many more. You could also click to see all listed. A very important feature for both sellers and buyers. Much of that space is now taken by advertisement from your accounts. A seller pays for that space and should not have you reselling his ad space to someone else. Very bad form. I have to be honest, as a whole I am extremely disappointed with the changes you have made. It does not seem intuitive, it's cluttered and very difficult to read. As mentioned, it reads and operates like an auction site but you have mostly classified ads and clientele that prefer classifieds, those are 2 very different things. I hope you intend to study feedback like this and apply it to your forward plans. There is a wealth of information for you available on all the other audio forums out there as each has a thread dedicated to the change. Those are your users, they pay the bills. Thanks in advance for your consideration,

I tried signing up for a new user account, but the link in the confirmation email just takes me back to the "one more step" page saying I need to confirm my account. Says the same thing on the login page, is this due to the upgrade and it will work later or is this a glitch. Thanks, hoping to get resolved so I can buy some speakers before they're gone!

I dislike your new site. I always search by LOCATION but can no longer find a way to do that procedure. Unless I missed something I will likely no longer use your service.

The new website is a diasappointment. The ability to search for multiple brands in multiple categories in one search has been taken away. Gone, too, are the cool pics and graphics of the old one. This new site is an example of change for change's sake, not for improvement. Please return to the old format ASAP.

The new interface has some significant problems for me. 1) When I search on a particular manufacturer at the bottom of the resulting list, there are a large number of entries that are not from the manufacturer I searched on. For example, when I search on Levinson, I also get results for McCormack, ATI, Cardas, PS Audio, etc. They should not be there. Also, they make narrowing down the search using the left side options difficult, since the spurious then seem to move up into the main part of the listings, intermingled with the company I searched on. 2) When I search on a particular manufacturer, the resulting list seems to be some random order. In the past, the list was ordered by category (Amp-multi, Amp-SS, Amp-Tube, etc.) then by date of entry (Newest first). Now it seems to be some random order. I want to see all the products in a nicely laid out order, like the previous version. I appreciate the sorting options on the left, but they are not good way to just do quick checks of all the products from a manufacturer. 3) When searching by manufacturer, I would like to see the Category of the product listed, like it used to be. This is a particular problem with things like cables, where it can very difficult to know what type of cable it is, just from the name, since there are often interconnects and speaker cable with the same name.

In a listing, there used to be a link on the zip code to find out the location. This was very useful, especially for heavy items. I would like to see it replaced. In a listing, there was an option under shipping to get a quick estimate of the shipping price to your location. That seems to be gone. I would like to see it replace.

When narrowing down a search, for example for Cables - Interconnects, when I select Cables the whole screen refreshes to show the sub categories, which means I have to scroll down again to select interconnects. The whole screen should not refresh - you should be able to select a sub category without having to scroll down again.
