It's hard to comment on speakers no one here pays any attention to. No offence, but Polk speakers aren't all that popular here.

Sometimes people won't comment when they have nothing good to say. Maybe a speaker upgrade is in order.

Perhaps you should audition a variety on newer speakers and you tell us how your LS50s stack up. Then if you have the resources you'll be able to evaluate whether or not you should upgrade.

The only Polks I have heard that were worth much were those in the LSi series.

what would you recommend to audition, for say a $1,000 to $2,500 budget,

the polks were $399 each back in 1992

thanks

looks like i will be busy next week

i've been to Decibel a couple of times, they acutally sold the speakers i make, but not anymore, i now have them at Transistor Chicago.

they are not audiophile speakers but good for computer or ipod speakers. The guys at Decibel liked them alot, but they thought the price was too high for what they were. if you have a chance look up ikyaudio

let me know what you think,

FYI not trying to sell you anything :)

i have to disclose that i am the manufacuture of ikyaudio speakers

I know this is old, and way past being relevant, but I love this speaker. I've gone full circle in the audio world and just recently went back to this as my main. Since my first pair of LS 50's, I went through Magnapan 1.6, Totem Hawk, ProAc 1SC, Spica Angelica, Gallo 3.1, Audio Physic Virgo, Theil, Acoustic Research, Usher CP 6371, Pardigm etc. etc. and this for some reason, keeps me interested and listening to entire albums with no fatigue or desire to move the speaker one inch this way, one inch that way. fussing with wires, correct amp, you name it. It's plug and play, listen to music and enjoy.

Polk doesn't get much recognition in here. Not because they aren't VERY GOOD loudspeakers, but because they are marketed to the more "budget conscience" audio enthusiast. Lots of HIGH DOLLAR EQUIPMENT is lauded in here, so the performance/price point is skewed badly in the wrong direction. The LS 50s are phenomenal for the price! So, unless you're really just dying to unload some of your hard-earned cash, I would hold on to them, or upgrade to another pair of Polks.
