Luckily we live in an age where there is plenty of recorded music to listen to and just as fortunately Paul Motian appeared on many, many recordings. At times like these the best way to remember a great musicians such as Motian is to listen some of the wonderful music he left behind. Now where to start?

Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, Marilyn Crispell or some of Paul Motian's own recordings?

Couldn't agree more Jazzfan! Went home last night and pulled out all my Bill Evans vinyl - planning to spend my day off on Friday in the recliner doing my own personel tribute to Motian!

Happy & safe turkey-day to all!

WKCR, the radio station of Columbia University in New York City, will broadcast 24 hours of Paul Motian’s music beginning at midnight tonight (EST) (just to clarify, it started at 12am on 11/23). The station is at 89.9 on the FM dial and streams on the internet  http://www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu/wkcr/

To hear it, click under “Live Broadcast” in the upper right corner of the page.

I pulled this info from Doug Ramsey's blog which can be found here: http://www.artsjournal.com/rifftides/2011/11/paul-motian-memorial-broadcast.html

Thanks for the recommendation - wasn't familiar with that recording, but all those artists are among my favorites. Definitely going to check it out!!
