Have you set the Marantz to output PCM, not bitstream?  See page 39 of your manual.  The Marantz may be outputting DD which most DACs cannot handle.

One more question: in the Audio Setup, there are two options for "PCM Down Sample"; On or Off. I selected "Off." Is it better for sound quality?

What does this "PCM Down Sample" do? (I couldn't find anything about it in the manual.)
