nevermind. i found my answer on the article question and i dont think my macbook has the optical output anyway. looks like i have to go with the usb/spdif bridge cable
My iMac has the same sort of output. It will put out up to 24/96 and, because of my DAC, that toslink is what I use. Be sure to keep the run as short as possible and more important, use glass and not plastic. If you do that it will snd very good indeed.
Actually some digital "experts" advise using a longer cable. I think over 5 feet was suggested?
I read this in several articles, something to do with reflections.
Does anyone with a better memory than mine remember this?
