I was thinking of the LBJ types when I mentioned classic liberals, blue dog democrat types that voted for Reagan in 1980 and '84.

You think back to the FDR type Democrats. Oh yes, they were big government/New Deal types for sure but, they really loved their country, were patriotic for the most part, supported the military, respected peoples right to freely exercise their religion, nor would they entertain the thought of burning the flag.

In addition, the Tea Party is hated because for the first time in at least 50 years, a legitimate grass roots organization like the Tea Party Movement has grown into a major conservative political force. A force of American citizens comprised of all ethnicities with diverse backgrounds some of which are to a lesser or greater degree, that are engaged for the first time, and pose a serious threat to the Washington establishment bureaucrats. Since it's obvious that the Tea Party is a disguised religions movement, determined to impose religious rules on marriage and reproduction, as well as bankrupt the USA via mathematically impossible demans like "no new taxes", when in fact the change during the 'W administration is one of the two major causes of the current crisis, the other being 'W's unnecessary wars in the middle east.

Now, it will be necessary to control the growth of social security, that is obvious, the demographics demand it. We will have to either raise taxes NOW or simply tax everyone by inflating away the deficit like Nixon did.

As to medical care, the USA has the most expensive medical care in the world, and much less than the best outcome.  The private option has clearly, obviously, and utterly failed in all respects, and must be abandoned before the whole system collapses under its own weight.

Now what? We have to pay for it somewhere. The answer, annoyingly to those who are mathematically incompetent, is taxes.

People who advocate keeping the 'W' tax cuts are simply traitors to this country, and hate its poorest citizens. No more. No less.

Additionally, the government today announced that it is changing it's symbol from an Eagle to a CONDOM, because it more accurately reflects the government's political stance and policies.
