"the overall dynamic range has been reduced unnecessarily, the record being a little more compressed than it ought to be"
How can a review in a publication like sterophile only just mention the extreme volume compression employed when mastering this release (at least for CD)?
One of the most volume compressed albums I've listened to. Has a dynamic range of about 5db. Even modern compressed recordings usually leave us with 7 or 8 db of dynamic range - and even this is too much compression. This album sounds terrible and hurts my head to listen to it.
A real shame b/c the music is good. But I won't be listening to it.
