What's that in the middle on the cinder blocks?

The REAL question is: WHAT is a cinder block doing with all that nice equipment! Remove immediately and take that photo again! ;) No, seriously- surely there is a better option!

At some point i'll find a suitable stand for the center channel (Monitor Audio), until then the cinder blocks are an ugly option, but an option none the less. The surround equipment doesn't really matter much to me.
