Oh, Duuuuuuuuuuup!
Over in the Classical Forums, Tuvia, of the Compaxx website, has been promoting his remastered MP3s, which, he claims, sound better than the original CDs. They do sound different, specifically louder and brighter. This graph shows spectral analyses of the Four Season excerpt on the Compaxx website. The original MP3 is shown in blue, the Compaxx remastered version in red. Note the massive increase in average levels across the bands, as well as the greater relative amounts of bass and mid-treble energy.
