it is great for jazz especially the speakers, i am looking to upgrade my pre and power to pathos classics one because i think the sound now is to much on the midrange side

Before you upgrade your electronics, have you tried toeing in the speakers a little, so that the backwave is not reflected directly off the wall behind the speakers? With panel speakers, you can also place them closer to the sidewalls than box speakers, which might give you a better balance between the midrange and lows.

oops,, did not see your reply.. it is just came up..one question though. will the hybrid tube gear like pathos give sweeter sound than quad solid state?
