Some of the really thin LCD displays look interesting. I would not take kindly to giving up video performance to get thin.

Gotta say, I really couldn't see much there. Maybe some of the Wadia stuff and few other digital front-ends—sort of.

The production version of the Spiral Groove SG1.1 and Centroid Tonearm!

Magnepan's 1.7

The introduction of 3D TVs and Blu-ray players caught my attention.

Not really. There was nothing new from Bose and nothing sounds as good as Bose. Is my nose gitting larger?

S. Chapman's picture

No, I haven't even been paying attention this year.

The number of new DACs—an indicator of where hi-fi is going?

The new NAD digital amplifier. Is it as good as I think it might be?

Sonograms from Gershman on a new Stingray II. Looks like time to upgrade.

Furutech's GT40 & Le Mans, which both look to offer big bang for moderate bucks.

That Wilson center. Would be nice with two. One above and one below the screen. More is more. Then, maybe, watch a film about starving children in Haiti while eating chips and drinking beer.

I remember a couple of over-$20k CD players. I find it bizarre to be pushing the envelope of CD playback, which seems doomed anyway in the light of cheap hard disk space, hi-rez music downloads, and wireless networks. I also remember seeing another best-speaker-on-earth-period, which did not seem very impressive, as well as some kind of potato-masher speaker from another maker.

Like I can afford to go.

I can't think of anything that really sticks out.

Sony adding SACD support to Blu-ray players.

I don't get too excited about high-end gear anymore. The really cool stuff is astronomically priced and the cheap stuff is usually all about hooking up your computer as a source (something which does not interest me).

Yes, the Orangutan of DeVore Fidelity.

The Naim UniitiQute is really cool. I hope it can be controlled by the new Apple Slate or just a laptop. I will have to wait to download the owner's manual to check out the specs.

Resolution Audio Cantata. They have a good reputation in digital. Gradient Helsinki 5.1

With very few exceptions, I feel that the vendors participating in this show did a poor job of applying technology to fit the needs of the audiophile market. Flashy new CD players listing for $20,000+—come on! There have been many responses to the questions on the future of the audio market in this Vote! thread, but I've never seen a statement from any reader asking for a better CD player.

Didn't make the scene.

Some interesting stuff, but nothing really special.

The new prototype (thus far) Magico behemoth horn speakers for $400k/pair. They sound like no other speaker I've heard.

Hearing about high-quality good-value gear from most reporters was good news to the ears. I definitely want to hear a serious review of those new Vandys.

Any computer-compatible DAC and the sound they make!

Been a long time's picture

For the first time in a long, long time, Resolution Audio is breaking the mold with very innovative design and I guess the circuitry is on par with the exterior. Bravo!

The Magneplanar 1.7s at T.H.E. Show were very impressive.
