How old are you?

Reader "craig" writes: "Okay, let's get right to it. What is the age of <I>Stereophile</I>'s readers? The reason I ask is the choice of 'favorite music' in a recent Vote question." So how old are you?

And I still listen to all the tunes I purchased in the '60s, '70s, and '80s, except instead of being on vinyl 45s and LPs, they're on CD and on my computer as digital files.

I started reading Stereophile when I was in in high school--1973. The magazine has aged far better than I have!

I just recently fell into this category

Actually, 52 this month. Started reading Stereophile back in 1985! Remember clearly when John Atkinson became the editor!

Never to old to listen to music. I prefer jazz & rock some classical—no opera or rap. To each their own.

Over 50—and proud of it! Vinyl still rules!

I'm 54, but do not hold my extreme youth against me. I am a serious person.

I think that I enjoy the music rather than the equipment as I get older.

Older than dirt, younger than ground-in dirt.

Was this supposed to be real age or maturity age?

I'm sure that the number of audiophile people will continue to grow, a lot. All depends on artists and technicians. I love reading, music and all arts. But books and music leave much more room for imagination and intimacy.

The great thing about being 66 and having been an audiophile for 50 years is having experienced the great, golden age of hi-fi and the advent of stereo. I was at the San Francisco HiFi Show in 1958 when they demonstrated the advent of the stereo LP with a new Electro Voice ceramic phono cartridge playing Audio Fidelity stereo LPs. Now that, folks, is really livin'!

Ugh, I just changed demographics.

HA! I fit right in (barely) in a certain age group! To be honest, if you were to try to figure out my age group from what I listen to, it might be impossible. Other than rap and similar music, just about everything catches my interest. Maybe this leads us to another question; "Does music transcend age?"

I'm 38 and I love having a great music system. My wife and I are into vinyl and USB DACs. Long live the hobby!

I'm 54 and I bet I'm near the mean, too. Had to laugh at a recent review of a speaker that had a crossover point of 13khz to the HF driver. I bet the majority of your readers (and the reviewer) couldn't tell if it was connected or not.

I'm 44. An audiophile for 24 years. Music lover for at least 43.

I love LPs more than CDs. I love LP systems the way they reproduce "music" more accurately than CD/SACD. I never download MP3 music for my hi-fi system. All my LP and CD collections are original copies!

I feel and act much older though.

I'm 31. Is that old or young? I'd say it's young!

As old as my gums and a wee bit older than my teeth.

My first upgrade was a saphire tipped needle for my 78 rpm record deck in 1957, guess I'm old.

I'm 16 years old with a great B&W system and loving it!

I'm 28 and have been an avid reader for the past six years. I love the comprehensive objective component to the subjective reviews.
