Pepper. First listen wasted me, nothing like it before or since.
The Vinyl Record Day website recently ran a poll to determine the top ten album covers of all time. What is your pick for the single greatest cover, whether it be for an LP, CD, or high-rez audio disc?
Hipgnosis did a lot of cover art in the '70s and '80. They were often weird juxtapostions of ideas put into images, such as an inflated pig suspended between the smokestacks of a power station for Pink Floyd's Animals. They did Led Zepplin's Houses of the Holy and Peter Gabriel 3 (melting face). I like most of the work was done by Hipgnosis and you can see a sample at: http://www.sound.jp/hipgnosis/yapwall/yhip.html But my top vote would have to be the Scorpions' Lovedrive. It features a couple seated in the back seat of a sedan. The "clean cut" man, dressed in a suit, is looking down at what appears to be chewing/bubble gum strung from his hand to the woman's breast while she looks impassively straight ahead.
