Analog forever!!!

My extensive LP collection was stolen in the early '80s just in time to be replaced with CDs. Vinyl is great, if you have a $10,000 rig and a $3000 cartridge. PS, I haven't had to change the VTA on my CD player since I bought it! Of course, since this is not a pro-vinyl letter, I'm sure it will never see print.

As i type this note, I am listening to the MFSL version of Steely San's AJA which I purchased at a Salvation Army thrift store for fifty cents in near mint condition. Is this a great hobby or what?

With analog gears & vinyl software more expensive than their digital counterparts, I'd focus more on 24/192 upsamplers, DVD-Audio, & SACD. In short, I'd spend $10K on digital technology instead on analog stuff.

I would love to start spinning vinyl again, just can't afford the table, phono pre, and cleaner I desire. So I'll wait a couple of years and purchase what I want.

My system is optimised for vinyl. Plus I prefer the sound of vinyl compared to CD. Thanks to reletively high CD prices, you can often find the better sounding vinyl version for lower cost- especially when looking for older recordings ! So, vinyl not only sounds better it can cost less !! What is interesting is that I am reminded of the time right before the advent of CD- when cassette tape was threatening vinyl. At that time, using a high quality deck and premium tape, it was possible to record a copy that sounded better than a pre-recorded tape. Now, you can "burn" a CD-R which sounds better than the cooresponding redbook release. Some things change, but the sonic supperiority of vinyl over its competitors still remains the same !

90% of my home listening is via analogue turntable. I've been buying new 180g reissues and old used vinyl on a weekly basis for the past dozen years.

I just bought 4 new LPs at a awap meet so gotta play them. I usually do listen to LPs far more often that CDs.

I still buy new records. I prefer analog recordings on LP.

with approximately 100 albums purchased over e-bay over the last several months that I have yet to listen to (not including what I have found time to listen to), I am in vinyl heaven. I am listening to two to three recently purchased albums per week, not counting the selections I listen to when the moods strike. Long live vinyl!!!!!

A day without vinyl is a day without music!

Altho I did spin 3 records last week, there will be no more turntables or vinyl for me. Since my CD purchases have slowed, I can devote more time to my older recordings.

Purchased a VPI TNT (1st table in 15 years) nine months ago and have been buying only vinyl since.

I played Tom Petty & HB Damn the Torpedoes, Concierto de Aranjuez - Julian Bream (RCA Red Seal), and Chuck Mangione Feels so Good 1/2 sp master.

I have over 300 Lp"s, many over 45 years old, London Blueback, Mercury Living Presense and RCA Shaded Dogs. I have rediscovered these LP's since I have been making CD's of these great sounding records on my computer. I can remove the noise, morph the sound and make an old LP sound better.

I listen to vinyl daily. I rarely buy CD's. I have audiophile equipment to make my own which sometimes come out better than store bought one's!

i have about 300 cds, only bought 10 in the last year. Have 3000 lp's most bought(used) in the last 2 years, since i got my (vintage)turntable set-up love the sound, and cheap too!

I have been listening to CD's only on my current system. I do have an old turntable and have considered giving it a spin... and I would have but I need a phono preamp. Maybe one day for "old times sake" -- no offence to vinyl listeners intended.

Vinyl just rocks better !

I listen to vinyl daily. Just upgraded my cart last week. I couldn't imagine going back to CDs.

I don't consider myself an audiophile, but I believe vinyl is vastly superior to CDs. More people would realize what they are missing if they owned a good recordplayer and took the time to clean and care for their records.

After over 10 years of listening ONLY to CDs, I finally bought a turntable a year ago. I've listened to fewer than a dozen CDs since then and aquired over 1,000 lps. I listen to at least one album each day and NEVER looked back.

I find that I hardly ever use my CD player anymore.

Sounds great and is also fun to connect with the music in the way that only vinyl makes possible.

I have more vinyl than CD's and I still enjoy vinyl more. My hope is that digital will narrow the gap a bit when 24/192 becomes a reality - unless "they" destroy it with watermarking...

I have a huge collection of albums form the 80's (I used to listen to them on my high school/college mass-market system) that I may one day record onto CDR, but that's as close as I'll get.
