The Internet—it carries more brands and offers more deals than any store on earth.

Audiolab in Fairless Hills, PA—designer seminars are great. Woodbridge in Woodbridge, NJ—very professional. Sound by Singer—very knowledgeable, with a good inventory of hard-to-find stuff. Soundex in Willow Grove, PA—great brand selection, with an extensive set of really great listening rooms.

For the very best in service, my vote goes to Audio Alternative.

The Audio Connection in NJ. They consistently go the extra mile to be sure that you are happy with your purchase. They are very generous with their home trials and are extremely sensitive to system synergy. A Great Experience!

Audio Etc. in Orange, CT. Very helpful staff, know what they're talking about, willing to work with you to make sure the system you wind up with is the system you're going to be happy with for a long, long time.

Saturday Audio Exchange. Best service I have ever received. They made up for the horrendous experiences with Costsheets.com and uBid.com.

Sad to say, "None." Most dealers are out there to make money, promote their own products, and give you negative opinions about others that they don't sell.

Sonus Faber. If you haven't heard them, I can't possibly explain what you're missing.

Cherry Creek Audio in Denver. No pressure, easy-going, nice demo rooms. Delivered 20 miles to my house free of charge to save me some sales tax.

ProMusica, Chicago, still. Here's a dealer with the stones to carry only gear they really believe in, and to eliminate all the rest. Also the best system matching in any one store. I wish more were like them.

The folks at Audio Advice in Raleigh, NC. They believe in customer satisfaction and let you have the time to listen and make up your mind. I have been going to them since 1984 and they have continued to grow, so they must be making several of us happy. I could tell you many stories about the over-and-beyond things they have done to help.

db audio in Berkeley, CA has been wonderful to me. They listened to me before I listened to any equipment. We put together a terrific system that met my budgetary needs, fulfilled the all-important Wife Acceptance Factor requirements, and (most important) provided me with a transcendent listening experience. I have gone back to them and added an analog front-end that makes me even happier. Their tactics have never been pushy, their advice and guidance have helped me separate the wheat from the chaff in this industry, and their encouraging manner gave me great confidence when I pulled the trigger and purchased my components. They even completed a tricky installation at my home. The system is on absolutely every day, and everyone in the family loves it. This is how it's all supposed to work out, but so rarely does. Thanks.

Sunshine Stereo, Steve and Gigi Zipser. I have lived in various parts of the country and this duo is the best. They are "music people" who appreciate fine audio and video—always helpful, humble, knowledgeable, and accommodating. I should be so nice . . .

Bay Area Audio in San Jose, California. Keith, Kevin, Tony, and Craig are knowledgeable, know my tastes, and are always willing to let me play with new hardware at the store or at my home. I sometimes go down to the shop just to visit and talk.

Wilson Audio in New Orleans. Everyone is treated with respect, and they have some high-end gear. Just got back from Scottsdale, AZ where I warned a friend that they would ask where we lived and what we did for a living within two minutes. I was right all four times we auditioned equipment. Doug Wilson, the owner, treats everyone the same. I highly recommend them. And Chuck, my favorite saleman, could not be nicer and more honest. I have sent many people to him; few have purchased gear, but his attitude does not change. First-class real people at that shop.

The few hi-end stores in the Kansas City lack suitable listening rooms and think that they're doing you a favor by selling at LIST price. My next system upgrade will me mail order!
