America's Audio Show

And tomorrow we leave for Denver to cover "America's Audio Show," the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest.

Man, are we busy or what? We are kind of like superheroes. They should clone us.

I have never been. To RMAF or to Denver. John Atkinson tells me it's going to be a good time. He says it won't be nearly as crowded or chaotic as the Consumer Electronics Show or our own Home Entertainment Show—the only two audio shows I have experienced—so we should actually be able to listen to some music.

Crazy concept.

The Rocky Mountain Audio Fest will be held at two hotels: the Denver Marriott Tech Center Hotel and the Hyatt Regency Tech Center on October 10-12, 2008. Furniture will be removed from over 160 of the hotels' sleeping rooms and manufacturers will set up complete stereo systems for attendees to audition. You are encouraged to go from room to room, have a seat and casually listen. In fact, feel free to bring your own discs or records to the show, as most exhibitors will be more than happy to play one or two songs of your favorite music.

I hate flying, dudes. It's about this time, 24 hours before I'm actually in the air, that the thought of it starts to freak me the heck out. When are they gonna invent teleportation? Can't I just go to the show in virtual reality?

Whatever. It's going to be awesome, and we'll be sure to tell you all about it. We'll be bringing it straight to you in virtual reality, as it were, through our Rocky Mountain Audio blog.

Don't expect to see anything up there until Friday afternoon, tho. It's not like we're superheroes or anything. Thanks and goodnight!

Take your earplugs. I have no idea why they play the music as loudly as they do but in several rooms it was downright painful. When I sat in on a demo of the Wilson Watt Puppies at the show last year, within a minute of the start of the demo the entire front three rows (including me) had gotten up and moved to the back of the room to get away from it. And that wasn't the loudest room by a long shot.Lots of vinyl last year. You should enjoy it.

Beware the audio groupies.

That's all I have to say about that that.
