This is a difficult task! The best I can do is to spotlight some music that has been important to me of late. That is more difficult in that my music is mostly loaded up ready to move back into our previously flood ravaged abode. But I will persevere in that we are moving home tomorrow!

Let me recommend to you a Loggins and Messina record, Mother Load. The songs are good, the play better, and the recording is really nice! The instruments sound authentic, there is more than a bit of dynamic room in the recording, and the decay (real or artificial) gives teh music a strong sense of space. I started listening to this record after my first audiophile buddy turned me on to it in 1979. Give it a listen!

Secondly, Rough Mix with Pete Townsend and Ronnie Lane. This is also a purchase from back then, probably the early 80s. I have always enjoyed most of Pete's work, but this disc (record then) introduced me to Ronnie Lane of the Faces (small and grown up.) Now I have the sacd which is really fabulous! I have fondness for all the tracks, but Ronnie Lane singing Annie is tear inducing. His voice is so fragile and sweet, you need to hear it. My other favorite of favorites is Street In The City. Pete sings this one, and it comes with an interesting string section. The dynamics are great, and it is a dramatic reading. It reminds me a bit of some of Richard Thompson's songs.

Give these both a listen.

honestly the first PM record I really enjoyed. Him live is a 100% different experience from recorded.

Absolutely. Three years ago I saw Pat live w/ Antonio Sanchez (drums) and Christian McBride (Bass) at the Ferst Center for the Performing Arts in Georgia. His live sound is amazing especially since he loves to improvise alot on stage.
