so if it were the same thing on a canvas, would it be art?

At the least it would not be vandalism

This argument will never be resolved given the totally subjective definitions all of us give to 'art'. As to acts of vandalism, from my perspective a great many buildings themselves are so ugly the architects should be locked up for committing acts of aesthetic vandalism on a grand scale.

I think it is safe to say that is almost always simply vandalism when it happens to YOUR house. It only becomes 'art' when some other poor slob gets vandalized.

I have no idea how this relates to the OP, but "art" does not justify mauling others' property.

I think most if not all, first and second generation CD players failed the "value" test for most, if not all of us.

I'd recount my own experience, but it's just too damned painful.

OOohhh. My first CD player. 4 trips in a year to the repair depot, and I gave up and gave it to a college student when it turned monophonic on me for the 2nd time.

I bought Sony's #343...and all ten CD's that existed. It was the best move I ever made.

I probably have the same 10 CD's.

However, my 2020SL was not so great.

Yes, yes, yes Dr Spivey. Even the expensive early models were a painful exercise in trying to convince yourself Redbook CD was worth the effort and pain. Now I get almost as much enjoyment out of CD as I do out of vinyl & SACD. But let's face the nasty reality - shitty recordings are released in every medium that's ever been invented.
