I recently acquired The Ultimate Bee Gees 2-CD Reprise 2009, and have been enjoying a surprising number of the tracks. I hated the Bee Gees (and really all disco) in their heyday.

I loved it! Great times.

I still like the Bee Gees and probably 90% of the disco era music. One band that comes to mind is Chic. I really like thier music. Barry White's "Loves Theme" was probably an all-time fav of mine during that era.

I was involved in the roller skating rink disco stuff, I was too young for the nightclubs. Disco roller skating was something I looked forward to every weekend.

From my perspective, it was a much happier time in America to be growing up.

I have admit, In the 1970's I sported white bell bottoms and those multi-colored puffy sleeved shirts.

There's one aspect of disco you bods are all ignoring. The public thought they were being introduced to high fidelity when the systems used in discos were abominable beyond belief. All that foofa, foofa, tiz, tiz and horn loaded coloration had a generation trying to duplicate that noise at home (thinking that's what music really sounded like) with horrifying results.

Disco in the pure 70s sense? nah. but when I was in my teens about a decade ago, I could be found in all manner of dance/rave clubs doing things that would now make me shudder.

OK---Now I KNOW you are screwing with us. It's already been brought up before. Seriously- first Phil Collins, then Huey Lewis and the other self-embarrassing "fan" posts, and now Disco. This is like the Brilliant Pebbles, isn't? A long term Doctoral Thesis project on intersection of pop culture, commerce and Dadaism. Like how far can you go with punking your audience and still maintain that you are dead serious while hiding under the cover of self-humiliation.

Either that, I submit that you are in fact a former member of Monty Python's Flying Circus and your entire online persona is a side project. But either way, I ain't buyin' any of it.
