Remember the talking animated cereal box in the movie Minority Report? As soon as I saw that I thought, "Oh Christ: THAT is the future for sure." It's only a matter of time. In fact I believe almost ALL of what they show in the movie regarding pervasive advertising and retinal tracking is, again, only a matter of time (not that I'll be welcoming it).

Talking newspaper ads startle India

NEW DELHI (UPI) -- Police in India are asking residents not to be afraid of talking Volkswagen ads appearing in two of the country's largest newspapers.

The Volkswagen Vento ad, which appeared Tuesday in The Times of India and The Hindu, prompted numerous calls to police in New Delhi when a voice began reading the print ad aloud in a style similar to a radio commercial, ABC News reported.

Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjeev Dayal released a statement asking people not to fear the ads after police in several cities received multiple calls about the voice advertisements. Police said some people reported hearing ghosts and some set off bomb scares due to the ads playing in trash cans.

Lutz Kothe, head of marketing and public relations for Volkswagen India, told Business Line the ad represented "a democratization of innovation" and reached 2.5 million households in New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Chennai.

The advertisement utilized a small device comprised of a chip, a speaker and batteries with enough power to read the ad aloud for 140 minutes, the Economic Times reported.

As if we were already tired of the newspaper fluff pieces and skewed op-ed pieces.....now we have the newspapers talking back at us..Sheesh!

The Volksawgen Vento cult is now gaining momentum.

Even though the "Voice of Vento" spoke for only 140 minutes, its "Rama-fications" continue to spread.

140 is the new sacred number.

Did you know:

140 is an abundant number and a harmonic divisor number. It is the sum of the squares of the first seven integers, which makes it a square pyramidal number, and in base 10 it is divisible by the sum of its digits, which makes it a Harshad number.

The sum of Euler's totient function Phi(x) over the first twenty-one integers is 140.

This is all very propitious!

First, an abundant number: an abundant number is a number n for which Phi(n) > 2n. Here Phi(n) is the sum-of-divisors function: the sum of all positive divisors of n, including n itself. The value Phi(n). Phi(2n) is called the abundance of n. An equivalent definition is that the proper divisors of the number (the divisors except the number itself) sum to more than the number.

Next, 140 is a harmonic divisor number: a positive integer whose divisors have a harmonic mean that is an integer.

The number 140 has divisors 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 10, 14, 20, 28, 35, 70, and 140. Their harmonic mean, 5, is an integer, making 140 a harmonic divisor number.

Third: 140 is a pyramid number, or square pyramidal number, is a figurate number that represents the number of stacked balls in a pyramid with a square base. Square pyramidal numbers also solve the problem of counting the number of squares in an n

Hail, Vento and bow down to 140!

After that statement.... In my estimation, Vento needs to take his medication before the orderlies at the sanitarium arrive with a straight jacket.

LOOOOLZ!

I suspect there will be several standard "messages" to choose from;
1) Oh Crap!
2) Oh Shit!
3) Damn what a mess!
4) "Yes we can!"

Plus, for an additional fee you can order custom messages from the mfg.
Wow, what an exciting time to be alive

No worries, Vento loves all those who have adequate means to support his profit margin.

It is amazing what a group can do in such a short period of time. The Obama Administration is really something! I do hope they can fix it. I guess Rahm decided he needed to worry about HIS future now that the country and the world are fixed. He can just put Chicago back together. I'm not sure many realized it was broken. If he really wanted to help Chicago he would apply for the Cubs job. They have been broken since 1908. I'm sure Vento would help.

And I still have some students in High School I am using multiplication flash cards with. This is amazing.

Damn that Obama.

I presume they had mastered math during the Bush era when they were age 5-13 and have now regressed due to a liberal black man being in the White House?

I knew it!

Yes, the Tea Party likely agrees with you.

If I had been denied math education from kindergarten to high school, I would support Obama over the administration that did this to me, as well.

Why on earth would you expect them to support the party in charge of their mismanagement?

Seriously.

"I have been denied basic educational instruction and I am high school age and can't to my times tables. Therefore, I support the party of 2000-2008 rather than its replacement."

Jim, you painted a perfect picture, then you act incredulous that the kids don't support the Republicans?

Would you?

Your implication seems to be that since they have not had basic math instruction before hitting high school they are foolish for supporting someone who has been in charge for the last 18 months rather than expressing disdain for the perpetrator of this debacle.

I know for certain you were born before the Bush, Jr. administration....how did that work out for your math students?

Where is your righteous anger at the fucking guy who did this?

Why the hate for a guy who's been in charge 18 months and implicating him in a high schooler's inability to do simple math?

Your logic is patently offensive on this topic, Jim.

(Not you, your logic. I would like you to open your eyes to failures that take place in administrations that share your party affiliation.)

The affliction is in degree, isn't it?

Because the previouis one did it, doesn't mean the next one gets by with doing it worse? The last 20+ years have been devoid of leadership.

I don't care who they support, because the answer is none of the above. We only get 2 choices...bad or worse. It will be the same in 2 years as well.

Spain tries to trump us and now Ireland has a crisis. More to follow for sure.

I absolutely agree Jim. It would a nice change to see more Libertarian Congressional/Senate members elected to hopefully free up the public education system with a little more local control. Libertarians are making some headway, but its only incremental at best.

....ah the possibilities.

"social conservatives destroyed honest political conservatism."

Right! so-called Conservatives seem to have forgotten about Barry Goldwater, Milton Freidman, John Locke, Ayn Rand etc..

You can't legislate morality and incidently, the Constitution makes no provisions for governing individual personal choices.

What drew me toward the Libertarian Party was their platform. Here it is:
