Wow isn't it just grand when the expensive replacement cable actually made things worse? So you had to make a connection to the frame and ground leads. Yep that's getting your money worth when you have to jury rig things.A shame the expensive stuff turned out so flawed.
What a shallow asshole you are, David. Have you ever posted something even remotely positive? Go fuck yourself... no wait... you don't have a dick, and you're all ass!
David_L, what if Keld says the new set up sounds better in his system?
Is he a liar?
Reminds me of when I got on trial a Graham Slee Elevator EXP/Era Gold V phono stage combo.
Well reviewed and all that but the Era Gold V used some Mhz range op-amps and all I got when I switched my pre-amp to phono was a FM station pumping out rap/hip hop.
Talked to the manufacture and there only suggestion was to change all or most of my cable loom in an effort to isolate the issue... as they felt that some part of my cable loom was acting as an antenna.
Not knocking the products... just one of those things
Peter
Congrats on your neat fix. You are what this hobby is and should be all about. David L is a pathetic POS. His avatar speaks volumes. Every opportunity to bitch about his narrow agenda is exploited, regardless of relevance. I like the way you share your exploits. You are helping us see many possibilities to improve our equipment.
Thanks Rvance. That was actually my goal, and I'm happy someone appreciates
When you are dealing with signals in the MV range everything matters. On my old refurbished Dual table you cannot use anything but highly shielded phono cables and trying to use a pair of Kimber PBJ was hopeless with all the unshielded motor mag fields entering the cables.
I thought I could try and improve the sound with better cables, but I needed something even better to make that happen. I have no doubt that using unshielded cables might be a bad idea even for a CD player or preamp with mich higher driving voltages as what ever might leak in the cable is still there, just buried in the higher level signal.
I use 2 pair of IXOS cables XHA 406 (PBJ copies) on my Yamaha rig, like the sound, but often wonder if my hearing was excellent would I be changing them out?
Everything is not about hearing abilities. Much of it is about training in the art of listening
GREAT job Keld.
You obviously had more perseverence than I would have had on a such a project.
...must be a Denmark thing...
Mark
Hmmm that's makes two posts from you where you mention my dick. I'm flattered you are so interested in my sexual organs
What's the matter? You said yourself AFTER you replaced the original cables with the expensive stuff that you had more problems than before Sheesh what is this the "look what I fucked up" section? yeah I bet it sounds WAY better now oh and by the way go fuck yourself you silly prick.
Hot damn, I love a fight. Kick his ass, sea bass.
I actually like David. He's a retarded dick, like lamont, but more fun than a barrel of donkeys!
Having to solder on my new cable is not a question of the cable being "bad" or "worse" than the old one, which should be obvious, even to the least educated on this forum. It is a question of
1) Crappy old switches/wiring in the building
2) The new cable being more sensitive than the old one
The manufacturer who built this cable for me, did what you usually do: Connect the frame in one end only. In my setup this was not sufficient, something he just couldn't know about in forehand. Thus, I had to send the cable back for "repair", or I could try it myself, which I did, and with success.
Everyone knows that cabling can be a bitch, especially low voltage cabling. Just like having to fight hum from a phonostage; it can drive you mad, but you just have to keep searching for the road to Nirvana. The new cable is several classes better than the old one, undoubtedly a high end cable, something I can clearly hear when playing LP's. The sound from my TT clearly outclasses my 2500$ CD/DVD player. And I'm not even using a high performance PU, but a modded DL103.
I meant to add that I am retarded too. I am the dumbest asshole in the universe!
Thanks for comparing me to Lamont If retarded means questioning people on here doing silly stupid things then bragging how much better it sounds even though they had to cobble together a fix afterward then big whoop. After all it's just more subjective opinion if it even sounds better. I would guess that if I spent a few hours fixing the manufacturer's mistakes then I'd feel like it had to sound better to even there was no improvement, I meant other than the horrible popping that went away once the proper grounding was achieved. Funny how ALL tweaks on here makes an improvement and never sounds worse Not going to be any fight by the way, that would mean the other contestant had balls to begin with.
I think we better stop it here, before it gets too nasty, ok?
You think after 40 years in this hobby I am not able to tell an improvement, and I don't like you. Let's leave it at that.
Awwwwwwww look what you went and done
Good one, but it doesn't bite on me
Who cares what you think? Now crawl back in your hole.
