Sounds like a formula for additional bass reinforcement. Placement that close to the back wall will be problematic for most loudspeakers. I guess you just have to make the best of a bad situation.

A woollen sock in the port might do wonders. Not too tight though.

Well I bought a new pair of Liuto towers and am now waiting for them to come in. The dealer should be calling by this weekend. I'm pretty excited since they are the best speakers I've ever had. When I listened to them at my dealer they made the instruments seem to be in the room instead of just sounding like good speakers. Very detailed but sweet and a very wide sound stage. But the 9 inch woofer still got all the lower frequencies. Can't wait to get them home! I'm happy and will work with placement in our living room as best I can.

I would suggest you begin with the WASP set up procedure. Mark two corners of each speaker's location on the floor (a small piece of tape or a colored thread through a carpet loop should work) and move them to the appropriate spot in the room when you listen, back when not in use.

I agree. A sock in the port might do wonders, but it's still the second best solution if your speakers are too close to the wall. The procedure suggested by Jan is troublesome, but will provide you with the best soundstage and imaging, and bass.
