Thanks Elk
just reading I want to clarify the bit on; EMI Classics Guiseppe Verdi and Messa da Requiem led by Claudio Abbado.

It may not be clear but when I talk about this being a poor recording and possibly at the digital stage, I meant the stage at the studio and not on the Devialet.
Sad that somehow it seems to me they messed it up at the studio/mastering, but as I mentioned the Devialet managed to do more with this recording than other products I have used.

Only downsides; bah Paul Miller got it wrong about the white gloves, I was sooo looking forward to having those nicely packaged but ended up with a pair of cheapos from Amazon hahaha but they do supply a lovely cloth.
Also currently no manual, but then I get the feeling that while the product is 99% ready demand pushed it for release before some aspects were fully ready (such as the config app for general public, the HDMI, and the manual).
However I can safely say this does not bother me and I am sure the others who are buying as the attention to detail applied by the engineers is beyond impressive and it is a bargain, expensive but still a bargain in terms of the best of high end audio.

Cheers
Orb

I read it that way.

I know what you mean. I have purchased a couple of tube products that did come with wonderful gloves for installing the tubes. Totally unnecessary - but fun!

OK Struts you finally managed to cajole me into posting and I hope the following helps

Just got back from a trip; what a great surprise (although I nearly missed it as I rarely check The Entry Level)! A very interesting read. Many thanks!

Out of interest, what were the pre, power and DAC the Devialet replaced and what is your transport?

Not sure if truly relevant as at time of choosing I also looked at Krell Evo, Simaudio Moon Evo, Audio Research (was more interested in pre than their power amps TBH), Musical Fidelity kW, and while not on the short list had heard Classe plenty of times when auditioning for my previous speakers.
In the end I went with Chord Electronics SPM1200E and their CPA3000 (short term solution preamp that this year was being replaced by either a reference tube such as the Ref line from AR/MF or SS like the CPA5000/Moon Evo).
TBH I could live with any of those amps, the differences were more about subtle preferences although as I mentioned in the review above for me there was in each case a possible minor criticism or minor weakness (whether slightly cool-lean, utmost sound stability, slightly overly lush, but this is not night and day differences just long term subtle preferences).
Same goes with the DACs/CD players, as I went with the CHord the best matching IMO was their DAC64 (quite cheap really) as to me it seemed to be designed to go with their equipment best.
I do not like the QBD76 but their latest

In the forums I read a post that said Stereophile would be reviewing the devialet d-premier 2*240 integrated amp in the summer of 2012, then another which said it would be doing so in the fall.  Have I missed the review or will it be reviewed anytime soon?

Circumstances in my personal life last summer forced a postponement of this review. It is now in the January 2013 issue, which went to press last week.
