No man- being that it will be from an advanced alien race (in collusion with a global international shadow-government affiliated cabal, of course), it will be crystal-clear hologram.

Perhaps I am in the dark here but KBK could teach a lot of you a thing or two about advanced science. He is just TOO open about his opinions, and it makes many 'fixed vision' people nervous, and they fight back with insults.
My close associate, Jack Bybee, will NOT contribute on the internet for the same reason, BUT he gets attacked anyway, on a regular basis by the same people.

Ditto.

I'm sure that as soon as the alien ship completes his anal probe, KBK will be allowed back.

Actually, I believe that Dudley fellow had it right. From his January 2010 Stereophile article 'Listening #85'

Quote:

I won't pretend I understand quantum physics better than anyone else whose post-collegiate science education is limited to reading National Geographic at the dentist's office, but it seems to me that anyone who can design and manufacture a useful, practical, household generator of "scalar fields" would have been kidnapped by the CIA by now and put to work building superweapons, as were Enrico Fermi, Wernher von Braun, and Tony Stark. That a marginal industry such as ours can attract so many people who have successfully farted at the laws of physics never ceases to amaze me.

Reviewers, by and large, tend toward the, "I don't know how the damn things works but it does!!" school of audio journalism. For better or worse.

John, I've complimented and defended KBK's arguments on many occasions. The knowledge base of our forum members is broad and varied and there should be room for many opinions. We can all learn from each other. But your take on KBK is a little simplistic, IMO.

KBK invites reaction and ridicule because of his self-aggrandizing and condescending attitude. And his failure to understand the concept of irony. While railing against the stifling limitations of the undeveloped, ego-centric pseudo-consciousness that afflicts the unenlightened Western mind, he asserts his loner, rogue status as the rare genius who is mercifully attempting to deliver us from the depths of our ignorance. KBK assumes he holds the keys to the locks on reality's deepest secrets and regales us with constant reminders that we can't understand the complexity of the metaphysical and the wonders of the cosmos.

Bullshit. We get it, but we may or may not buy it depending on context and personal beliefs. Every audio issue does not have to be a springboard for finger-wagging world view lectures and the insider's guide to the history of the secret society of conspirators who control all of us.

We like KBK, but he's got to be able to take a little heat with all the hubris.

One wonders what else you consider nonsense, unworthy of discussion? Fear is indeed alive and well when it comes to audio discussions. But fear of what, the unknown? Fear of feeling inadequate? fear of looking silly?

Let's play spot the Unspeakables, here's a short list.

Mpingo discs, Shakti Stone, Teleportation, nuclear physics, demagnetizers, static charge zappers, quantum purifiers, biology/evolution, mind matter interaction, cryogenics, photos in the freezer, clocks that improve sound, the Green pen, the Red X Coordinate Pen, Crystals, Very Small Things, Things that are Not in the Audio Chain and Things that are Not Even in the Room. Boo!!

Feel free to add others that upset you.

These days, I am being VERY CAREFUL not to tell most people much about what really works in audio. After all, Geoff Kait and KBK have tried and essentially failed to get things out, and have 'suffered' for it. As I said, it just isn't worth it. This is a new website for me, and I have very little invested, except that John Atkinson published my LTE for' WW' in 'HFN' answering 'Self' on capacitors in 1984, and we have been distant colleagues, ever since. I would not wish to embarrass him further with the 'truth' on why my products do as good as they do, for the money. This is me, John Curl (the Temple Grandin of audio) God bless Enid Lumley, where ever she is, for teaching me when she was still alive.

That's right, and it just shows that defending what you hear, is unappreciated by most people. Geoff Kait is now mad at me, because I hung up on him this morning for telling ME something is impossible. More details, later.

I have to admit, a little photo chip that is placed on top of the CD player for 2 seconds while the CD being treated is inside the player does seem pretty preposterous.

I too responded to Mr Self's input in Wireless World - I responded by writing a paper in 1986 entitled "Challenging the Conventional" for our own customers to read !!

To quote from it :-

>>> "I will begin my description of two particular paths of discovery we have been along by starting at the end of a particularly significant year when we had been through the experiences of hearing different wires change sound, the same wire reversed

My freshman year in high school I was asked to explain the Dada art movement. Always going for a laugh, I replied it was similar to the Mama art movement, only surlier. The teacher gave me 2 swats that made me see stars. It was one of many transcendant Catholic school experiences.

You know, over the years, I have tried to keep an open mind about tweaks and mods, especially those sold as accessories by others. However, I have never been very satisfied with the 'explanations' and it might just as well be my imagination, much of the time. Well, I will still trust what I know and can control in audio design, and leave the extra for the rest of the world to debate.

Well, OK. I kind of agree with you, actually. Explanations can be, uh, a little problematic when they are not within the confines of what we are used to seeing in terms of frequency response, signal to noise ratio, those sorts of things, and room acoustics -- things that are fairly easily measured. When audio devices like demagnetizers, ionizers and colored pens entered the scene it caused us to figure out what in the heck is going on or perhaps to simply put them on ignore. But it gets worse as even more outrageous things have come on the scene, things that are ever more difficult to come to grips with, with or without an explanation. And things that we're not even sure how the heck to measure. The chip, for example. But many others, too. The Clock, the Schumann Frequency generator, Mpingo disc, Lessloss Blackbody, Ultra Tweeters, Red X Pen, quartz crystals, to name a few. Even the humble Silver Rainbow Foil that's been around since Christ was a corporal is sufficient to produce a high degree of angst in almost anyone who's had the opportunity to try it.

Myself, I've learned to avoid explanations unless it's absolutely convenient.

John, KBK announced his depature from the forum.

Your assumption regarding KBK's demise was ridiculous. Sub-ridiculous. If you want to label anything as unimpressive, start with your assumption of KBK's death!

Where did you get such an unimpressive notion?

That was the most ill-informed conclusion perhaps in the history of the forums here.

If we had run with your line of thinking, everybody here would have already sent flowers to TEO Audio's headquarters.

Instead of beating our chests wailing at KBK's premature elevation to the celestial plane, we are now suddenly expected to instantly switch from assuming his death (thanks to you) to celebrating his incredible survival?

John, you made up a ridiculous premise and now you expect a grateful collective sigh of relief that you were 100% inaccurate?

I find your seriousness on this histrionic issue unimpressive....but amusing.

KBK pitched a fit and left when he didn't receive adulation for his preposterous conspiracy claims. I'd call that sad on one hand, and gentlemanly of him on the other. Is it a precedent worth emulating for other conspiracists who do not meet with universal acclaim? One can only hope.

He got ticked when we didn't go for his hypothesis that black fighter jets of unkown origin were flying DIRECTLY over his home as a warning that he was getting too close to the truth about ray guns or mind control or whatever the flavor of the day was.

Then, he left and staged his own death so we'd all be sorry.

Luckily, John found him and we are being admonished for not falling at KBK's feet with pie eyed fascination at his madcap theories.

Then, KBK "told on us" to John, who is going to favor us with some condescension about how our monkey lizard brains just can't comprehend KBK's inductive skills.

It's a mixture of Tom Sawyer's funeral and a Phrenology seminar.
