Art's piece, "Household Miracles (or The Scantily Dressed Eye)," on the Quantum Resonant Technology Qx4 and other tweaks, originally appeared in our January 2010 issue.
what is so great about it?? hell, you know what WOULD be great? to see a reviewer buck the trend, go against the tide and say what we all know, *this foo shit is ridiculous* *why am i even reviewing this nonsense?
Id renew my sub for 10 years upon seeing something like that..
Just say no!
Art identifies one of the world's great mysteries:
"That a marginal industry such as ours can attract so many people who have successfully farted at the laws of physics never ceases to amaze me."
Now to get these minds to work on the real issues of the day.
They are.
Making money.
Personally I think anyone who breaks a law of physics should be required to perform a minimum of 10 hours of community service. If it was one of the laws of thermodynamics, then maybe 15 hours. If someone exceeded the speed of light, 20 hours.
George Reisch's 1996 Stereophile essay on the Laws of Physics is worth a read: http://www.stereophile.com/thinkpieces/336/ , not the least because of its opening quotation:
"Nature and Nature's laws lay hid in night; God said, Let Newton be! And all was light."
Excuse me. Has anyone even bothered to READ Art's piece in full? I quote:
"The company's Qx4 audio accessory ($2399) is remarkable for two things: Its use in a good-quality system has a consistently audible effect
Talking about audio skeptics, I must give a shout-out to this delicious satire of Hydrogen Audio from Hi-Fi + editor Alan Sircom in response to the suggestion regarding HA members that "maybe if they ever kiss a girl they will lighten up":
http://www.audioasylum.com/forums/critics/messages/4/48194.html
His title comes from HA's Terms of Service, #8 of which is that no sonic differences can be discussed on that forum without their existence first being determined to be real through double-blind testing.

Editor, Stereophile
The strange part is that Heisenberg, Einstein, the Hitachi experiment in wave/particle duality, et al, all showed and or indicated that reality, as we so loosely and poorly apply and understand the word, is very much part of the conscious direction of the individual working against a backdrop of a reality that is overall cast via the mass of mankind. Ie animate matter surpassing the intensity and integrity of the inanimate. Ie, within people vs reality, the will of the given individual and persons involved are the final arbiters of specific components of that actual 'reality'.
That the thing you like to call 'you', is a information carrying and energy directing avatar that is a holographic thing in a holographic oscillating multidimensional holographic matrix.
Any high end philosophizing theoretical physicist worth more than two farts in a rainstorm, has been hollering this out at the top of their lungs to anyone that may hear it..for a least the past 20 years. Interestingly enough, the best in man (the most educated and erudite people in known history) have been saying different versions of that specific truth for the past thousands of years.
And if that's what they are telling you, you had better listen.
Oh my gosh, John. How is it possible that, in different discussions, we're both on similar wavelengths? Take a look at my comment in the Classical Music discussion of Mahler Symphony No. 3 that equates phone sex with listening to mp3s. You can find it here: http://forum.stereophile.com/forum/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=82369&Main=81487#Post82368
That's a whole lot of holo.
Naysayers and "skeptics" frequently play the dreaded DBT card, as if it's very mention is sufficient to disprove "outrageous" claims of controversial tweaks, like ones with the Q word in the name. As one might expect, naysayers and "skeptics" never actually get off their easy chairs to investigate these claims or perform DBTs themselves as they'd rather grouse and scold.
Ducking Stool
As the name suggests, this was a stool that was placed in a cesspool or stagnant pond. The accused were forced to sit on the stool and it was lowered into the water, the fear of drowning often brought forth confession; however, at times the subject would refuse to confess and as such would eventually drown in the water. It was believed that if the accused were guilty then they would float upon the surface of the water, their body trying to reject God's holy water. If the accused were innocent then they would sink and drown.[3]
Very Small Rocks?
Kinda makes you feel all Holo inside.
Whoooosh!
I get it, now, thanks to Google. I was a little worried at first it might have been some sort of veiled slam on Brilliant Pebbles.
Yes, the Dunking the Witch and 'scientific guessing' scene from Python's 'The Holy Grail'.
I too realized, afterward, that it could be a Pebbles & Bam-Bam attack, but none was intended.

I must admit that I continue to do this test, but not double-blinded any more as I consider myself totally impartial and fee of bias, and that having done this repeatedly, I do continue to remian in my generally light-hearted vein.
I have never tried the Dudley Moore (Foul-Play) blow-up doll test, and hope that even in my old age I can resist that temptation. I will leave that hypothesis for someone much younger to validate. Although, if I make it to "the home" someone may think that might be a funny gag to "pull on the old guy"! I just hope there is no video.
I will also admit that even though there have probably been plenty of people who have wanted to insert something inside of me in a rather painful manner, I have not been aware of any attempts or I have been on the move so fast to avoid any such maneuvers. I am reasonlbly sure there is no light in there anyway as I am sure the penlight flashlight I swallowed at age 4, surely the batteries have ceased to function by now!
I also find that if you continue this test with your spouse, and no one else!, that you will remain pain free for quite some time and under no irrational distress. Of course your mileage may very.
No offense taken. Folks often characterize the pebbles as some sort of homeopathy, new age spiritualism, an obvious placebo, a psychology experiment, parapsychology claptrap, metaphysics in action, a dig on the Laws of Physics or ritualistic mumbo jumbo. I won't mention any names of acoustical societies or scientific journals.
