AKG P8ES
heard one and had to have it,. now I worship at the P8 altar
I am currently using the Benz MC Gold which is a low output moving coil cartridge. The cartridge is very smooth and should go well with your speakers. I looked up the Audio Experience Solo and noticed it had interchangeable modules to vary input impedance. My Benz sounded better loaded down with the Gram Amp 3's 470 ohms than the Cambridge Audio 640A's 100 ohm. I did not have the volume and more importantly the dynamics through the CA 640P. I think you would enjoy the Benz MC Gold through your step-up and into the mm of the CA 640P. Oh and it is in your price range.
I bought the Solo used without a manual. I wasn't aware that you could change anything other than the tube on this unit. I've found a few things about it on the net but not what you mentioned. Would you be so considerate as to reply with where you found this info. I've been to the Audio Experience website but don't recall reading anything about being able to vary input impedence.
Thanks for the reply, Sam
Here is the link but I see it is for the Solo 2. This may be a newer model.

Zu 103 or one of the Audio Technica: very good values.
Awesome! I own it, too, and the SuperNova version, and am pretty convinced that one doesn't need much more. Love it... the cart is known to have suspension problems with age, though, finicky... treat it like a princess.
thanks again for the tip... the guy im buying from is a very anal audiophile so it is in great condition, immaculate
