I took my CDs and a USB hard drive to work, and ripped them while my boss wasn't looking.
My only addition is that even with a fault-tolerant RAID drive, you still should do yourself the huge favor of having a cheap backup drive. Even if you back it up once when you finish all that ripping and then once very six months, it's insurance worth every penny and minute it takes. I personally keep my backup drive and all important legal doc.s in a small fireproof safe. If all goes well I'll never use them, but luck favors the prepared.
