The units you are talking about are old technology; they are way overpriced for their performance.
The SONY SCD-XA5400ES is only $1500 and is better-sounding than any player Accuphase has ever made; furthermore it is probably the best-sounding player for under $10,000. THe Meridian MIGHT be better (at $16,000), but that is an open question.
Listen to the Sony and you will sell your Accuphase in a hurry. The sound is simply stunning (much better than my Ayre C5xe, which I paid $6000 for...).

If you are right in your afirmation,(I hope to be so),this mean much of the world audiophil hoby,throw of many monney to buy expensive cd players,when he can buy with 10-15% of this money better source.
I will ask the opinion regarding this afirmation also from another people,and if are so,(I cannot have so a Sony to compare),I promise to buy one imediatly!!!
John Atkinson told me in an e-mail that he has requested another 5400 from Sony so he can compare it with his upgraded Ayre and others.
Presumably there will be an article coming from him soon on his results.
I personally think that the Sony is revolutionary; it is SO good, especially for its price, that a lot of engineers at a lot of companies are going to be going back to the drawing board!

I will tell that I make more sacrifice to have this CD player from Accuphase,because I here from many people/source lyke this is ,(also actualy),a extraordinary player,and from them and from another best player, is only a diference of taste...???
Normally,lyke another audiophils entousiast,...I want more if is posibil.My problem is lyke where I live I cannot make a comparasion on my cd player with another on his class becouse is not here a dealer who can make this to happen.
