There are strange things happening every day
I hear music up above my head
Fill me up with your wonder
Give me my rapture today.

Buddha, why do you think I have been buying/trading gold (and silver, and the good folks who mine both...) since 1999?

Unfortunately, GDP is measured in $USD, which makes the GDP:debt ratio a bit circular.

Gold is the silent basis. With interest rates at essentially zero, it can no longer be accused of being an "unproductive" asset.

Many wonder how, in a supposedly "deflationary" environment, gold can be priced for inflation. If you owned any blue-chip stock (IBM, GOOGLE, or name your poison), and the corporate honchos announced tomorrow that they were issuing new shares, you would probably sell it. Share dilution is not a good thing. Consider your dollars. As the private sector is being de-leveraged (but only up to a point, as monetary authorities are trying desperately to shore up the private balance sheets with stimulus packages and "quantitative easing"), the public sector is sopping it all up. THIS is "share dilution," and the "shares" are US dollars. As I said, share dilution is not a good thing. And we all own shares in the publicly-run $USD Corporation.

Right now, with gold spinning between (broadly) $850 and $1000, and between (narrowly) $910 and $990 (currently at $953), I prefer $14 silver, and a few mining stocks that are still priced at $700 gold.

I have blathered this sort of screed before, at $400, $500, and $700 gold. All I read in response is the party line, if anything. Remember the boiling frog. The trick is to heat up the pan slowly enough so as to keep him from jumping out too soon, and eventually boil his non-responding ass to a fare-thee-well, without his even being aware of the process under way.

The $USD is a valid medium of exchange. Buy stuff with it. Enjoy. It is NOT a store of value. If you save it, you lose.

Happy tunes, all.

Ah, nobody in congress wants to even bring up guns right now. In fact, we got an amendment to the Switchblade Act of 1958 while nobody was looking. Things are great for gun owners and the industry as a whole.

Lamont, I suppose that now you are going to tell me you bought SWHC and SGR on their technical breakouts in late February. I was filled on the pennant breakouts at 2.92 (SWHC) and 7.05 (RGR). 20,000 shares of SWHC and 10,000 RGR.

It is one thing to sit with your browser set smugly at your Stereophile "open" category, and say, "Ah." And bitch about switchblades.

It is another to put your money where your mouth is and beat them at their own game. That is what I prefer.

You are politically impotent. All you can do is whine from the comfort of your sanctuary.

Hell, man, that is what the markets are FOR. Vote with your wallet. Learn about "continuation patterns," "stochastics," "RSI" correlations, and "MACD" crossovers. It's all free. It's the internet, nummy! Don't get mad. Get even. Make some serious gelt on your political rants.

You are such a phony. And a helpless one, at that. Hell, do I have to show you everything ? Instead of whining about what a poor, innocent political victim you are, OPEN A TRADING ACCOUNT AND TAKE SOME ACTION.

Of course, in a world of 6%-8% inflation (depending on how you cut your coupons, and how much wilted lettuce you can stand...), you may be content to just take your 1% savings rate and go to sleep feeling safe.

Not for me. If you get an idea, capitalize on it, instead of whining it. Then you'll be able to afford some really NICE stereo gear (or "kit," as they say).

Sorry for the screed. Not. You whiners are all alike. You need attention, so you bitch in public about how the damn' gummint is fuckin' you over. DO something! There is no law against making a few well-placed trades. And there is no law against learning how market internals work, with a few elementary principles of technical analysis. Get the fundamentals right, and then stalk the technicals.

It can't be that tough if I can do it, eh?

Uh? Unfortunately, even your children can't save you from dementia. Even you, yes, you, Clifton, will be shitting in your pants one day and you will be carted off to the home. Being a good Marine you will wait until your kids are out taking care of logistics and you will put on your best USMC blues and blow your brains out with a M1911. How nice.

Lamont, I have no children. I'll leave the "good news/bad news" commentary to you.

Don't plan my exit without my consent. As for "shitting my pants," I can assure you that I'll have an evacuation plan. Will you?

I can see no need to blow my brains out. I am happier alive, and may the Great Spirit take me while I am in a good mood. Preferably, listening to some fine tunes.

Now, what does all this have to do with your whining, your political impotence, and the bad sound you can barely afford?

MY dementia? Hell, you can't even stay on topic. Nobody can predict the future, and I am humble before Fate. But, my guess is that my lucidity will far outlast yours, since all you can do is whine about the teachers who robbed you of your "potential," the officers who, er, robbed you of your potential (is anybody noticing a theme, here???), the national lawmakers who (you fill in the blanks...) _____, and your pathetic inability to capitalize (in an international marketplace that rewards merely paying attention) on your great insights.

As I said a month ago, and as I repeat now, you are a phony and a whiner to boot. You have nothing to offer but a tin ear and a weak resolve.

Now, given the above, how bad is it going to be for YOU when you are my age? You should be so lucky...

You have a serious inferiority complex. Yes, we know you have money, you're the best day trader ever, and according to you have more gold than Ft. Knox (big fucking deal). I hope it makes you happy. I'm laying bets that you commit suicide in the end. Sorry, you have all the pending signs. And I take back laying off your dumb ass after I was informed you were stupid. Yes, you're stupid but I'll troll your ass. So, just how much money can good sound buy these days? Does it bring back the lives of the men you got killed on your first night in Vietnam sent to lead a recon patrol? What a fucking administrative idiot. The only night you were on night patrol was a public park in L.A. And stop being a pain in the ass at A.G. Edwards just for the free coffee.

As for the Internet. Numbnuts, you're doing the same thing. Get it? Ah, never mind. That part is over your head. The little one. The only that doesn't have anything to do.

Now, now, Troll. You still can't stay on topic, can you.

I don't day trade. Unless, of course, the day gives me more than I expected on entry.

You're laying bets. Tell me the last bet you won. Yeah. Right.

How much money can good sound buy these days? Ummm. No comment on that one, genius.

You sound confused. Your prose suffers from the confusion.

No. I do not have more gold than is stored at Fort Knox. Unless the stuff there is filled with chocolate. You nor I will ever know, because the last audit was about 30 years ago, and requests for a current update have been refused, because (snicker) administrative expenses for such an audit would be too high.

Now, tell me about this obsession you have with, er (your words), "trolling my ass."

A.G. Edwards no longer exists, moron. They were acquired by Wachovia in 2007. In May, as I recall. These days, THAT time-gap is eons. No wonder you remain too dirt-poor to buy a decent sound system. Hey. Next time I see a 1980's vintage Sansui on sale for 80 bucks, I'll buy one for you. Just tell me where to ship it.

Poor baby. Now, I suppose you are going to tell me you don't have enough money to open a trading account at A.G. Edwards.

You still haven't explained your hallucinatory visions about how gun laws ought to work.

Yeah, yeah. I know. You are supposed to be able to own a gun, because you can "read," and athletes who make "$205,000,000" per year are NOT supposed to be able to own guns, because they can't read.

Explain, genius. We are all eagerly awaiting your further brilliant ripostes.

After all, they have been so, ummm, scintillating up to now...

C'mon. Dazzle us with your wit, logic, knowledge of the facts, and deathless prose. It is a slow Saturday night. We need the stimulation.

Oh my god, you really are stupid. Nobody gives a shit what you know about finance, Clifton. It's the weekend. Buddha was only being facetious. I was being facetious. You need to socialize more often. I'm sorry about you losing the free coffee during the financial meltdown but that doesn't mean we need a history lesson.

Tough weekend.

I really truly enjoy Lamont and Clifton.

Once I hit the Lotto, we're all gonna drink some beers (or non-alcoholic beverages, although I know Clifton enjoys the fruit of the vine) together.

Anybody going to the Hi Fi Stereophile thing next year?

If I hit the lottery, I'll buy for everyone. Even buy me some guns and ammo, and a bunker.

'course, I have the same practical chance of winning lotto as the rest of you, and I don't buy tickets.

Good morning, Lamont, you miserable failure. Today, the active December Gold contract at the Comex traded up 22 bucks. AUY (which I recommended to your dull brain at $4.50, $6.75, and, most recently, at $8.50) closed at $10.19. GG (which I recommended to your miniaturized head-battery at $24.50 and $32) closed at $40. RGLD (which I recommended at $38) closed at $42. NXG (which I recommended at $1.90) closed at $2.48.

No WONDER you can't afford decent gear. You are too fucking stupid to recognize short-term corrections within ongoing secular trends.

You had better keep shopping for bargain gear. You have no choice, since you have NO idea about how to cash in on the current government insanity (which, I think, was the original idea behind Buddha's posting of this thread...).

Hell, even 1970's Sansui integrateds are gonna be sellin' for upwards of 2 large before YOU can afford one.

Really. What a chump. Axes to grind, and absolutely NO clue as to how to grind them.

Sorry, moron. I DID tell you so...

Hey. Maybe you can find a used pair of AR-3's on E-Bay. Better get some expensive watts to feed 'em...

And all my best to you, too, chump.

Oh. I almost forgot. Please continue to, er (as you so graphically put it...) "troll my ass." Sometimes I get bored, and even making fun of morons can provide occasional relief.

Good luck. Good trading (snicker). Good listening. Happy tunes. Yeah, right. Adios, Senor Mono.

Where is this year's love-fest, Buddha? Hell, if it's within decent driving distance, I'm there. If Lamont shows up, I'll fart in his face...

But he had better not try to "troll my ass"....

I know those Southern boys have, er, unusual fantasies concerning their private parts, but nobody surfs in even the general vicinity of MY fundament...
