I guess there are no limits here regarding promoting one's own products.

Too bad your quantum dots have now been superceded by Silly String Theory.

Shouldn't your type of self-promotion at least be limited to the manufacturer's forum?

That would seem more appropriate for you finding ways to mention your own 'products.'

As i've said before, I believe your DaDa-esque antics are pretty original. no scientific merit whatsoever, but quite entertaining...but... you should give any money that you make back.

Clever ruse, to be sure.

Has anyone experimented with these?

I usually eat all of them before I can get them home!

Dots are great! They also make excellent ear plugs.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I get a lot of that. A while back one of the big skeptics took an intelli-chip over to the local metallurgy lab to see what one of these codgers looks like up close. Pretty amazing stuff.

I have the same problem. I've loved them since I was a kid. They were maybe 10 cents a box? God, that was a long time ago!
On the rare occasions when I go to the movies they are still one of the things I load up on. I also sneak beer in with me. Please don't tell the usher about that.

Is one color better than another? How do you get them out after body heat has melted them?

The green ones work best under a turntable, the red and yellow ones work best under speakers - different colors for different results.

They used to have dark/black ones. They work best under electronics.

Gummy Bears work well, too.

Since they are so flexible, you can use varying numbers, depending on the weight they are asked to support.

Take the weight of the item in question and divide by 5 to get the quantum of Dots you should use.

The dark/black ones are my favorites. Gummy bears get hard if you leave them exposed to the air. Besides, they're not gummy then. Makes 'em hard to chew.

Have you ever tried Jelly Babies? They're sort of a cross between Dots, Jelly Beans and Gummy bears. I'm fairly sure JA knows about them.

my favorite jelly beans are Jelly Belly. I always keep a dish full around the house.

Also...the best gummy bears come from Germany. When I moved out of Germany back to the USA, I brought 75 lbs! of Gummies with me!

Heck, we should also discuss M&Ms and Reese's Pieces on top of equipment and speakers, too.

Add the various peanut/color options, and things get complicated, fast!

Laffy Taffy in lieu of Blu Tak, the various gummy candy shapes, Red Ropes wrapped around cords and interconnects, the list goes on!

People like to talk about "synthetic atoms." Well, ain't nothing more synthetic than the above tweaks' atoms!

Coprolite may make for great equipment support material.

This lies beyond Myrtle wood.

Petrified wood then comes into play.

Heck, drier lint, when created with the right color and type of fabric may also preform well.

There are no limits to the effects of some interventions.

In fact, I know many people who no longer need a system in order to hear a tweak! They have transcended to listening directly to tweaks.

Candy can be fun. Especially ones that come in different colors. I hate to give away trade secrets but ...a box of Mike and Ikes works very well for this experiment. Dots, on the other hand, are a little soft and tend to stick together a little too much for this experiment.

The experiment is to shake a box of new, unopened Mike and Ikes to minimize the possibility that the various colors are placed into the box in some particular order. Next, slowly pour out the contents into a shallow bowl or plate. You will notice that the various colors tend to clump together in bunches. (!!) Some care should be taken while pouring so as not to let them bounce around and strike each other too much as that will throw off the results.

The photo of the Mike and Ikes shows some clumping by color, with a pretty good random pouring of the candy for the photo. It's not going to be perfect because there is always going to be a little physical interaction when pouring the little guys out of the box...nevertheless, you should get very good, repeatable results once you get the hang of it.

I presume that this is not the right place to explain the toothpick method of calculating 'pi'?

I'm afraid I've never heard of it. If I were to guess I'd think it must be some kind of Monte Carlo approach?

Yep. Concerns the likelihood of overlap, and is useful only in theory.

There really is no clumping happening there- there are just far more reds than any color, and given that we see red more strongly than most colors, our first glance reads the concept of clumping/grouping. Look at the other colors- a few are paired but nothing to indicate real grouping. Or were just joking? Doh!

The photo was just one I grabbed off the internet. Even though there are more reds than other colors there is still clumping and grouping - and pairing as you said. There are several pairs of greens and yellows and the black ones are clumped under the pile of other colors. There is a nice clump of oranges in the middle. And the reds. Oh, my! As I said, If care is taken to pour the Mike and Ikes slowly the clumping will occur. It is unavoidable.

The color distribution varies quite a bit box to box; if you happen to get a box of Mike and Ikes with fairly equal distribution of colors the clumping and patterns will be more obvious. But even in photo I provided, which is just some random image off the internet, although the color red dominates, the clumping and pairing patterns can be seen to emerge.

Cheers

You mean you weren't being sincere about something?

Quelle surprise!

You have no take on how those other skittle pictures could appear in such amazing order?

I bet you didn't even look closely at the Hot Tamales.

They vary, if one is observant.

I bet you think all the Warhol Soup Cans are the same, too.

Really, the Hot Tamale thing, you didn't notice?

Condolences.
