Don't miss him on his current tour. I've never spent that much on concert tickets before, and hopefully won't again, but it was one of the best shows I've ever seen-- so good that I think I'll pass on his second trip through my area (one I saw was at the Academy of Music-- he's booked the 17000 seat Spectrum for round two) because I doubt that the sound in that old arena could match the performance. Which is top notch.
Right, I want to catch him this year (he's playing MSG on 10/23) but don't know if I can do it. Here's a nice complementary reading to AD on Cohen, Sasha Frere-Jones of New Yorker on Cohen, who mentions the double CD/DVD "Live in London" as one of his best live albums:
