I need to get that, obviously. Was everything on Impulse awesome?
Yeah- you take a song you've heard so many times, and yet half way through I realized I was sort of tapping my leg to teh beat and smiling. Good stuff.
Essentially ;-)
OMG: That was incredible and thank you it made my day !!!!
That was absolutely fucking amazing. Thank you so much for sharing that.
Someone should teleport some of the dudes at the anti audiophile crusade taking place in HydrogenAudio.org forums so they can learn the true meaning of music - love, not hate.
Thanks for that.
My day has just been made .. thank you for sharing!!
Jeff
That was a great rendition of Ben E. King's staple; thanks for sharing. I like this multinational "re-version" better than the original. What really struck me though, immediately after listening to it (on my friend's computer speakers), was how awesome the sound was! It was totally natural and totally real. The singer(s) were there, somewhere near the monitor, and the instruments were totally present, and had totally the right timbre; down to the metallic sheen of the acoustic guitar strings at the end. When the camera started going to the Netherlands, the sound was even more amazing. The bass and drums were in the room; the African chorus clear and distinct. When I showed the video to my friend, she had also remarked on how good the sound was (with no prompting from me). Two minutes into it, and she said she thought I was showing her some special tweaked audiophile video. But if anything, being that it was recorded outside, over many different locations, then assembled somewhere, it should not sound particularly good. Yet it sounded like a studio recording, and a good one. I can't yet figure from this if its because of the tweaks I had done to my friend's place, or because this is simply an exceptional recording?
Did anyone else find the sound exceptionally good?
Thanks for posting that, I enjoyed it
No doubt about it, music knows no boundaries.
Wow, I'm glad you all enjoyed it so much! We should thank Jonathan Scull for passing it along.
Michigan: I'm also only listening on cheap computer speakers here in the office, but I bet this is a really excellent recording. Everything sounds right.
And, man, I love Grandpa Elliott's voice!
Thanks for turning us on to this find! There are actually a whole series of these videos on youtube, and the www.playingforchange.com website. Best of all, they are now selling a CD/DVD compilation! I just ordered it from Amazon. Purchasing the music, and other gear, supports the ongoing work of their foundation- to fund music education programs around the world! What a noble idea!
It is available on CD and DVD at Starbucks for about $13 in a package that includes both formats.
Do you have any evidence at all that the folks over at HydrogenAudio don't love music?
I should also point out that you have just failed your own test of "love, not hate."
