You could try Buddy Rich Class Of 78. It's not Beatles tunes but it does have a big brass sound. I have it on Direct-To-Disk LP. It may have been released on CD. Herbie Hancock The New Standard might also be what you're looking for. While not big band, he does rework a lot of pop material. He does Prince's Thieves In the Temple and Norwegian Wood among others.
thanks ill check it out. btw its not beatles covers im looking for in particular its that big brash brass sound i like. without turning into cheesy swing shite
Gordon Goodwin's "Big Phat Band" has it all. Try the album "Act Your Age" for a starter.Maynard Ferguson "Big Bop Nuveau" from the 1980s and 1990s always played full power.
Count Basie later stuff on Pablo all fits your criteria. No "sock hop" music there.

so far im liking buddy rich's "big swing face", Herbie Hancock's "new standard" seems all right. I listened to some clips of Gordon Goodwin's "act your age" on last.fm and it sounds like it might be just what im looking for... thanks dcstep!
Might I recomend Digital Duke for your consideration?
