Try Music Direct...great selection, though I will not guarantee they have it

What's wrong with a used one in mint shape? Too much quiet stuff? Forget it and rock out instead. Give them board limiters a workout.

Does Mahler Rock Out?

If he's punchin' it in there for the second time, he's probably a bit worn out.

thanks for the post. this is very frustrating. we don't have any bricks and mortar stores in northern kentucky, just below cincinnati that sell new records, so supporting them is not an issue (there is one used store that i support even though he is expensive). however, i do try to support music direct, acoustic sounds, etc. now, looking at these prices, i am a little pissed. i am not accusing anyone of colusion, but when you look at the various catalogs, nothing is discounted. the gear and the records are all the same price across the board. i will be checking amazon from here on out. thanks for the tip.

Can you be more specific about their suckage? Are they bad pressings or just bad masterings?

First- it sucks you have no real record stores near by. My local is one of my favorite places to go when I have a little time on the weekend, and invariably has some great finds.

Anyway- I am so glad that we have Acoustics Sounds and all the rest, but you're right that the prices are WAY out of wack, especially on vinyl. It's like they assume every customer is an audiophile with endless disposable income. So the Amazon Vinyl store is a very welcome competition. Frankly, they are the first place I look lately because I want to support the mainstream retail market for vinyl. And they do miss a number of releases, so I still buy some records from the other guys too. But they really need to dial down those prices a bit...

They are ebay buys.

Ive generally had good luck with ebay, it just seems that this particular peice of music is not well covered on vinyl

I've bought several records from Amazon. I've had to return 3 or 4 because they were scratched. I couldn't tell if it had happened during shipping or not, but some of them were really, really bad. One looked like someone had taken a knife with a serrated edge and sliced a 1/8" in gouge in it. I wouldn't even let me needle touch it.

The good news is that Amazon returns are really easy and they ship the replacement immediately and just wait for the return.

But that said, I generally use indepedent stores if they are comparably priced.

Amen. If the prices are w/in $3 or so, I make it a point to buy from the indie stores.

I lol'd reading the OP because I was also looking at the price for Merriweather Post Pavilion on Amazon and thought it was at a ridiculous discount. I decided I'd rather purchase it from the record store near me instead. Now I see the Amazon price has hiked back up. Could this have been some sort of presale discount? Very strange.

Hi, bmuell. Actually, I'd been watching their pre-sale price, and it was around $22-23. But 2 days ago, strangely, the price was at $13, the day of the release, so I had to jump on it. Amazon does the same kind of things with other goods. The sale rate fluctuates, and when you see the low tide, you just have to go for it.
