Glad you enjoyed the piece. I have 2 more planned: on D/A processors and on transports.
For the disc players, I play a CD-R burned with the J-Test signal. For the iPods, I used the original J-Test WAV file transcoded to Apple Lossless and played back from both the headphone jack and a dock. (The latter are the results shown in the article.) For the McIntosh MS750, I tried both the CD-R and playback from its hard drive of a FLAC version of the J-Test tone.

John, I intensely request that you also include your reference DAC, Mark Levinson No.30.6 Reference D/A processor, in the forthcoming article on D/A processors. It will be great to see the comparison of the old King with the new Knights.
